IIRC Mir2 EU had a 50/50 chance on character creation to start at BorderVillage or GinkoTree, Mir3 had 3 classes starting in 3 different villages, Chronicles has everyone starting on 1 small map.

I did like Mizu and the start quests, I thought it was a very good way to introduce players to the game/server. However, I am worried about looking for mobs amongst the horde of players.

Is it possible to clone Mizu easily without messing up the start quest chain, etc? It would annoy those wanting to group up at the start but I feel it would be the lesser of 2 evils.

I don't think you have to, but you might want to atleast get a horse, which i believe was quest 7? There isn't that much to do for the horse, but with the amount of people starting on release, it will take a very long time to complete it :/

You don't have to do quests to get off the island, but you do need money, you can either do the starter quests for cash to get off, or try and find a mob amongst the hundreds of players from start lol, it's going to be so funny!

Imo give starters 1k starting cash, for those who want to get off the island straight away and hit the grind, can always go back once the launch and afew days have past where it's not so busy

If nothing has changed since CB you have to do 6 quests to get your horse (only 2 of those are kill quests). You then need to grind or quest to get enough gold to pay the Sailor in order to leave the island.

It had crossed my mind about instancing Mizu.. With the current quest system I think it wouldn't require any more effort and is certainly worth a thought.

It would on the other hand be a shame to not see a potential 300? or so people trying to squish past each other to get to chestnut trees for travel cash. :P

Another point is that what if 2 friends make chars and end up on separate instances? Would be a shame, even if its not for a long duration.

You could always just create an instanced map for me alone o/, I will allow up to 9 other people to be on the instanced version with me D:

You could have Warr/Wiz/Tao starting in Ginko/Border like they have for the past 12 years and have the 2 new classes starting on Mizu, but again I assume that would be more hassle than it's worth for the quest system.

I struggled to find hens to kill for a quest when only I was on the Island, hopefully I can start kill-stealing when I get Archery at level 7 :p

Then they wouldn't get the start quest until they travelled to mizu. Unless they each had their own quest-line, in which case would be a load more effort :P

Mizu's spawns have been upped time and time again since, and judging by the fb response may be upped again. They are also on as fast spawns as they can be.

This is a good point and I think it would be stupid of us to ignore the fact that 360 people have joined the facebook event in 4 days along with an unknown amount from lomcn and various forums who don't use facebook.

We are discussing various solutions and will keep everyone informed as we progress...

Its gunna be Anarchy, Every1 starting same time, same place, hunting same mobs. I do like the option of instancing, maybe u cud name em and create a teleport npc so people can teleport over to other instances to hunt with friends.

I'm a little bit concerned just because ill be playing a melee class (sin) so I can see all the archers and wizzies killing all the mobs I need when they get ranged skills.

...but I cant see everyone being on the island too long anyway so it will be crowded for a bit then get a lot easier within a few hours as people leave and go to other areas.

I will probably only be online a short time over the first few days because of work, but I will catch up in the week :D so things should calm down by then for me to level and catch up

Just spawn 10x10x10x10 mobs and their should be easy... May even get groups going.

If you would like to know....it took me no more than 20 minutes to get out of Mizu.

Making instance isn't going to effect anything lol, friends will be split for at most an hour maybe 2. Beside,s I presume you're still going to have that beginner guild?

That will keep them company in the mean time lol.

Your start up will be less successful if you let it crowd, for example a number of people have already said "I'll wait until AFTER the rush"

Instancing Mizu is a good idea, you risk getting split up, but then you always have lol. Not like your split for the first 30 levels...it's an hour lol

Like I said I really enjoyed what I thought was a good introduction to the server and IMO it would be a shame to ruin a player's first experience of your server from potential lag, overcrowding and kill stealing.

If you are worried about splitting friends up at the start a NPC offering teleports to numbered instances would work I guess. I think Age of Conan did something similar to this.
