basically im 17 in august but with going back to college and the neccesary work involved in the course and the hrs that ill be able to do in work i dont think i can afford a car so thinking maybe a bike is better suited for me, i know the risks involved in accidents with bikes that doesnt bother me really. just need some info on insurance and how much bikes cost really just slam the info my way tbh.

Its bigger insurance then a car since its a lot easier to make accident with those.

Depends on how you plan to do it all. If you can pass the full bike test your insurance will be a lot cheaper. Generally insurance is equal to or lower than a car because 50cc bikes tend to cost a lot less than the average car. Since the speed is limited as well that helps.

your CBT will be £70 - £100 dpending where you do it
Then you need to do the theory test which is £21.50 or £23.50 after september
Then the practical which is £60 for motorcycles (I assume they fall under this)
Providing you pass first time thats £150

Having a full liscence will mean much cheaper insurance than someone who has only done the CBT.

When i was 16 i went for my CBT and paid my insurance which came to about 600£

CBT was only 30-50£
My insurance was around 500-600£

I need to redo my CBT now thought as im after a 600cc and my other expired.

They also consume less fuel, and now when the oil prices are so high its a big advantage.

well 1 i looked at is 18 litres to a tank full which is ruffly equivelant to 18 quid, and most bikes average ruffly 40+ miles per gallon

18 litres is equivelent to 4 gallons, so 160miles to a tank full.

very economical and very cheap this is the reason im considering a bike.

I ride a brand new Aprilia rs 125 2007 which cost £3,715 brand new.
Full powered model 33 bhp, 120mph top speed, 0-60 5 seconds. At the age of 17 you can ride this if you pass your A2 license. Once this is done you can ride ANY CC size engine aslong as its restricted to 33 bhp. Once the two year period is over, you can then ride ANY size cc bike. If your 21 and other you can jump on to any CC bike/BHP. Although the test for motorcycle is becoming harder next year (alot harder) and being changed from 21-25.

It's great fun, alot better than the car. Although i've just currently done a deal on buying a GSXR 600 k6 2006 model, 130 bhp in back wheel, 160 no probs top speed. Obviously cant ride on road, for track only, but i cant wait ^_^ (stops going on)

Learning (5 day course £450 AGE A2 license under 21, DAS 21+)
Practical Test ( £60)
