Hmm, I just booted my computer up this morning and my mouse had stopped responding, it just doesn't move at all. So at first, I thought 'hey this may be a problem with the fact it's USB' so i whacked on the PS/2 adapter and it didn't work, so i thought 'maybe the mouse is broke' so i tried another mouse, still no luck.

So I tried a system restore, but I can't restore it any further back than this morning (when i first got the problem) because I can't click any other date without the mouse, so I tried looking in Device Manager, there is no mouse in there, even when I made it display the hidden files.

PLEASE help me, this Alt+Tab, shortcut using madness is horrible

Use the tab button and the left/right/up/down keys to navigate to other dates

that didn't work, i tried for ages

but i put a PS/2 mouse in the computer and rebooted it with it in, and that works fine, so i'm just gonna have to avoid USB mouses from now on because my PC doesn't seem to acknowledge their existance anymore

what about other usb port? (sometimes the pins get dirty you might want to clean them)

do you have another USB device? usb key, etc.. do they work?

try uninstalling mouse driver, usb drivers and reboot.. let it redetect/reinstall those usb ports... then plug mouse in and see if it detects anything
