I am hosting my mates server as i have to PCs and i canplay on one and host on the other. I cant get it working ofline but when i went to put it online it wouldnt open Gate0. He said it was because i need to do something to a port on the Router, i dont know what he is on about can someone here help me.
I saw the post about DMZ, but on my Router ConFig it doesnt have anything about DMZ but i did see a bit about "Ports" but i am not sure what it is i have to do to it?

I thought i had sorted it...but i didnt submit it before i saved. I have now certainly saved it and the DMZ is working... but i cant get Gate 0 open. I have been told by Sparx14 that this mean one of the IPs hasnt been changed. Now if i had a server starter it would change it for me, but i need to get vb6 runtime files on the host PC for Server Starter to work, and the computer is being annoying about allowing me to download them. So i thought i could change them manialy by my self. I have changed all the ones can find, but Gate 0 still wont open so i have missed one (or so i am told).
Can some one tell me where they all are? Please!!!

All i want to know is, is the fact that Gate 0 wont open due to an IP not being changed? Once i have clarifed that then i can get round to the DMZ or Ports Forwarding. There are some questions about that i still want to ask but this needs answering 1st.

Conexant.. i had a really crappy one of those.
It doesn't have loopback, meaning you can't access your web address.
You need to add a route, i'm not sure how to do it.. so you'll have to look around.
I just bought a new one, couldn't be bothered with the crappness that i had.
Linksys WAG54G now :)

I dont think it is the router that is the problem, i cant get gate 0 open and i dont think the router would be what is causing that. All the people i have talked to said it is because one of the ips is incorrect. But on the computer i am hosting it on the serverstarter wont work due to it not having VB6 runtime files, so i am trying to get them (with great dificultly as the website with them wont open) and then with the server starter it should change all the IPs for me. But then if it does not work, well i have no idea what it could be.

Couldnt i just DMZ instead as it is less complecated...well i have done the DMZ but this still happens.
I have asked for how you forward ports but no one here will tell me?

I did and no posts that i could find told you how to forward posts, i did find one on google about making Virtual server, which is the same as forwarding ports. But it has to Port Types for me to type in, one being Public and the other being Private. Now i dont know what ports these are. And it also asks weather i want a TCP or a UDP, now what are they?

Spyro.. the gate opens when the server is all ready and connected...
If your using your NET IP to run it, then it's not going to connect, no loopback.
Make sure you setup as the other router guiides show you.
When you do finally get the gate open, you'll see the problem that I am describing with being unable to connect past the doors, believe me.

Ok, i forwarded the ports by following a guide i found on google, i set the ports as the 80 as it showed on the site. But then when i rebooted it to save the settings, i now couldnt get onto the internet. I have now deleted the Virtual server and can now get back on the net, so now i want to know what number am i meant to give the ports, and is it TCP or UDP?

The ports used for mir are

7000
7100
7200

And if you want ServerCount to work 3000.
These are the only ports which you need to forward.

Now this is getting stupid. I forwarded the ports so it was 7000, submitted it, then rebooted the router. Then i couldnt get on the internet (same as what happened before when i forwarded a port, even tho it was the wrong one). So i delete the Virtual Server as i did before, but no now this time i still cant get on. I dont know what i did to change it but some how i can now get on...I dont understand what is going on.

I must be doing it wrong, unless it is the router...but i doubt it.

Ok i now have Gate 0 open (finally) it was that i was changing to many of the IPs. Now i have enabled the DMZ on my router... but it is the next bit i dont get.

2. Go to network connections on your computer, open it, select TCP/IP and click properties, from here you need to setup an static IP address, this is done by clicking th "Specify and IP" check button

I cant find this. Well ofcourse i can find Network Conections... but from there i dont know where to go. Could it be as i am doing this on an XP machine that the way to get there is different?
