No it's just where the light from the window hits the router, the left side is in the shade of the monitor.

They're all green.

The lights on my router are ALL green, too.

well yes, becus u r prob connected at 100mbit. try connecting at 10mbit like i said and se what happens, the light will most likely change to yellow

Well i guess as the pc are not networked at the moment - sharing the internet is not a issue as yet. The simplest Anwer i can think of - go buy 2 x network card (there very very cheap) if your pc's dont have a netowrk card already built in - then go buy yourself a long (15 meter) cross over cable - plus the wire into both and there you have it - instant network.

If you want to advance as per what has already been said, buy a router with a in-built switch, they come normally with 4 ports (4 pcs) and can share a Broadband connection, be it ADSL or Cable modem - then you can both play online at the same time (as its boring with just two people).

u could just have 3 network cards, 2 on my comp and 1 on another and share internet, or use (if ur modem has the option) the usb cable and use a crossover cable and boom u guys r lan'd and can share internet

If you've got XP Home, you're screwed... I learned that the hard way.

I use XP Home on all my PCs except my storage box which has Win2k3 installed on it...

set up a local area connection wack a card in each pc and one cable from one to other then just set up your connection in control panel... and there u go.

WOW. Sounds like an extremely vague copy of my earlier post lol

crossover cable.
ip manually set 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.2
subnet 255.255.255.0
computer name: anything/different for each comp
workgroup: same for each


all routers basically have automatic wizards whatever but then again most broadband services r automatic dchp so it doesnt even matter unless ur on ppoe dsl or whatever.
all routers usally have the same features except when u get a little higher end etc, i prefer the netgear ones except their lower end routers (at least the one's ive experienced, 10/100 non-wireless router x2).

and the majority of routers green meansl 100mbit connection and yellow means 10mbit connection.

and like wittin said make sure u got ipx for games like starcraft i think etc
