I think mine is on it's way out because occasionally my screen/pc will freeze and make a loud distortion noise through the speakers and I have to reboot.

I only have a GeFore GT430 which cost me about 44 quid 2-3 years ago so would like a bit of an upgrade but don't want to spend too much cos I have better things to spend my dolla on! :eagerness:

Thanks in advance

Man the **** Up.

This! Just get the 6 gig one :D

On a serious note, get a 670. I've had mine for a couple of years now. They're a good card and not really much more than you've linked.
I will be looking to upgrade mine soon so might sell my sli setup if your interested :D

Have a look on here man, its a very long running forum with a lot of good legit guys selling second hand parts. Much cheaper than Ebay also.

https://www.avforums.com/forums/computer-classifieds.243/

You can get yourself a 670 for that price on here no problems and its a much better card that the 660.

If your looking to go brand new Scan have a 7870 DD just now for about £120.. thats what i would be looking at.

If you want to spend a little bit more look at the 270x its prety much a tweaked 7870 but obviously less heat and power consumption.

But i would say defo have a look at the AV forums you will get a lot more for your money on there.

Or ignore you

Your words cut me deep emotionally and physically :(

Anyway, back on topic. What games do you play? What is the most the gpu is going to be doing? Apart from looking at that 5tb's of grot that you have!

I don't play games on PC, apart from League...which my current el Cheapo card copes with fine on High settings :P I occasionally try other things, most recently PoE and FF14.

Is this AMD thing Warlock is talking about better than the GTX660? http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-...-gddr5-gpu-1000mhz-1280-cores-2x-dvi-hdmi-2x-

and will it be compatible with the rest of my parts?

A GTX 660 is about on par with a 7850 so the 7870 will be faster, What motherboard are you using just now?

In all honesty unless you really need the extra power there is no need to go for either of these cards to play those games, then again who knows what the future holds.

If you're at the 7870 ball-park though you may as well go for an R9 270.

Also, you still enjoying silver Tai? :P

Ye thats what i said before but your gonna be spending an extra. The normal 270 is around the same as the 7870.. the 270x is a little more expensive and slightly faster than the 7870 but will ultimately run cooler and draw less power. If i had £120 to spend it would be the 7870 for me at that price. If had that little extra it would be the 270x.

All that being said you can get a 7950 off those forums for under £100..

Personal preference really.

I got my 7870XT for £110.. and it runs on par with my flatmates 670 FTW for half the money he spent on his.. i still got a years warranty with mine buying it from the forums aswell, its not always a bad idea buying second hand.

https://www.avforums.com/threads/sapphire-hd7970-ghz-vapor-x.1917615/ - This is where i would be putting my money.

The 270 will come with 3 free games though as well if you buy new. Just to add to the decision making.

Right so if your going to buy new, i would say go at least the 270x route, i would have suggested the 670 but as previously mentioned its discontinued.

Personally a second hand 7970 sounds a whole lot better to me tho. If i had the cash spare just now my card would be getting sold and that would have been bought already lol.

And ye your board will be fine with any card apart from single dual GPU cards.

That motherboard is only PCIe 2 so your not going to get the best out of a newer card that runs on PCIe 3. It will still work, just not as well as it could.

Something to bare in mind.

Doesn't really effect anything to be honest, shouldn't put you off buying a new card card that supports 3.0.. the tests have shown little to no difference between 2.0 and 3.0 at full x16 speed.

So I went for the 7870DD and now my pc won't turn on ><

Looks lik the gpu takes a 6pin and an 8pin power connector?? My psu only has one 6 pin.

Saying that, it all powers up ok, even the fans on the gpu spin but the pc itself doesn't load up.

Suggestions? I new need psu now?
