Right im looking to buy a new graphics card and 1GB of DDR RAM.

Here is my mobo specs: http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/d915gag/

Can some one recommend me the best that i can get for £200 - £300 I can go up to about £400 but idealy i will only spend that much if its a big increase in performance from what i can get for £200 - £300.

Oh and Gaming performance is what im after.

Two options from the Auronator today.

First up is the big-******* option. This setup will ensure your gaming performance is stellar, and so will be the hole in your pocket.

Second up is the reasonable-******* option. This setup is more like what you asked for in price, but the gaming performance in the newer games doesn't come close to the 7800GT.

I'm only going to recommend one option atm. Now, since you can afford a good video card you definitely want a total of 2GB of ram. HOWEVER, if you notice your current ram is actually being run on a divider atm. This means that while your stock FSB should be running you DDR400, it's actually running your ram @ DDR333. I assume you bought this computer as a whole from local store? I've seen this before on these forum's unfortunetly, whoever put the computer together using underperforming parts.

I took a look at komplett and tried to come up with a cart that took into consideration all the aspects of the situation (underclocked ram, pricing, performance) and came up with this:

It adds another 2x512 of DDR400 (which will work with your DDR333) and gives you a very good videocard, both of which you can bring with you to a new system in the future (current A64?).

I bouhgt my computer from PC world and it came with 512mb so i added the 512mb from my old computer, not too sure if that was a good idea, so at the moment i have 4 sticks of 256. I was planning on just removing them and putting new in (1 GB atm then up to 2 GB when i have got the cash) because i have found a home for my old ram.

Would aurons RAM (on the first option) be a good choice if im just putting that in.

Yes, you would remove two of your 256mb modules, and place the two 512mb ones in their place. You WOULD feel a boost.

Of course, if you want performance, you'd also take the last 2 256mb modules out, but you might want the extra 512mb of ram :)
