i think the new geforce 7800 gs agp card can use upto 250 watts, and for this card nvidia recomended that u have at least 350W power supply. Might be wrong tho as i dont know much about power supplys. but i am getting a new one for the geforce 7800 agp just to be on the safe side as i have a 300W supply aswell atm.

It doesn't take anywhere to near to that.

Don't buy it, it's a waste of money. Get yourself an PCI-E motherboard and a 7800GT minimum. Trust me.

thought i might have been wrong there lol =p

ill stick with ma agp motherboard for now dont wana buy a new motherboard + processor, just upgrading this machine a bit. I dont see me needing to get another graphics card for a while as the 7800 is prob one of the last for agp =p

It is the last for AGP and it's not even the best all around card.

You don't need a new CPU, you just need a new motherboard for PCI-E.

The 7800 GS is within +-10 pounds of the cost of a new 7800 GT which is considerably and noticeably faster.

If you cant find out the motherboard model, take a pic of the mobo

Mobo model is ASUS K8V SE deluxe

EDIT: ok its not the graphics card or PSU, ive just tried the PSU and g card from my other pc and this pc (these Pc's also have a lot more commponents like printer etc) and i still get the same. monitor stays on stand by but the monitor speakers say "System Sayo CPU test" which eventually dies.
