New server on the horizon, users input needed

hey all,

me and a few mates from college are going to make a server, its in the early stages atm but should be done by the end of/ a week after easter.

we want this server to be a great hit and i have been playing mir since early beta so i have a rough idea about how to make a good server, but we need ur input aswell.

So Far The Server:

Will be a lvl 7 start.
Will have various exp ratios so that there will be no ruts in the lvling
i will check this post often and keep u updated on the latest, so far we have:

prajna island,
cast gi-ryoong,
black dragon dungeon,
prajna cave
prajna stone cave
prajna temple


Omas from past bichon (new hard ass omas)
omaking

darkdevil (with sounds)
kinghog (with sounds)
kingscorpian (with sounds)
iWT
iZT
mintaurking
bonelord

possibly having a new interface as we have a top class expert graphics designer on our team,

new quests,
new armours (dragon armour + heavenarmour)
holydeva summoning skill (possible yet not certain)
new weapons,
mirset (new in 1.8 patch euro mir patch)

we should have the ghost ship working, if not it will be in the patch

marriage, pet rental, name colour change npcs

hopefully there will be alot of interest in this server so we shall have constant updates (mainly server side, but a few patches)


we would like to know:

what exp you want and start level.


we're unsure about putting in the evilmir (big red dragon) as it may conflict with ppl who want the evil centipede (we personally think the EC is a classic boss)

we also need a name for the server, we're unsure about it atm but when we decide on a name we shall post.

also if there is anyone who thinks that they could make a valuable contribution to this server in any way then plz PM me OR post below and we'll get back to u.

we'll keep u updated.

also we're going to get a website going aswell and maybe a forum

make it maybe 10x exp and start lvl 7. have bosses with good exp and worth accually killing. maybe hex the exp so that 12k or so from a boss is a lot and close to normal exp in euro mir is accually near 10x exp. Its not possible to have an ec and that dragon mob? but anyway dont have kr teleports unless u need a script that is rare. maybe a merchant but at reasonable prices? a lot there and i dont know what u already have but just some things i like in a server.

btw i'm currently working on some hexes, so far i have deadsons m2server but we have 900 mil max gold in bag and i'm working on:

increasing storeage limit to 49 items
Changing the 2k max gold drop of the mobs

and a few more things

np, just lookin for a good server and as many, arent stuck on one server now. hopefully this will be it, we'll see just lets hope this one can accually take off and get up unlike some of the past servers i've been interested in

i agree on start level 7, medium stats, instant refine, start kit, new homezone, cave teleports (kr teleports cost gold), some quests to get multistat items, mini quest to get instant pots e.g. collect 5chickens and trade it for superginseng? finally it would be great to have a quest wher u can make your own wep with its own name, look, etc, that would b amazing!

we wana see new stuff
take out crap like copper rings and replace them with summit else with new names new skins but similar stats
Cave teleports, no 1 likes running for 10 mins from MW to ZT
EXP 10x-12x
up the normal stats of mir otherwise its just the same old mir server
EG Power ring dc 0-8 or 0-9 instead of dc 0-6
EG DSS dc 10-40 instead of dc 5-35

kk thanks for the feed back ppl, i'm interested in what hex0r said about completely recreating the items DB, well recreating some items, as for the stats, we're getting the most up to date stats from mir (dss is now dc 5-40 and so on)

as for maps, i've made a new province, i'm also going to make another proviunce to attach onto it (like the link with bichon and serpent valley) and it'll look convincing, only problem is filling in the mountain tops lolol.

i'm confused about what shinsu said however...making ur own weapon with ur own name? is that possible? it would be cool if u could edit/ add to the item db in game.

as for exp, well we're going to try and make it as smooth as possible so that ur not lvling really easily one min, then the next ur completely stuck (e.g. exp in cave A now sucks but u cant move onto cave B coz its too hard)

also, i know this might be fair ghey but we're trying to get the mob sounds going aswell for PSC and PT mobs coz i hate lvling in silence i like to hear mobs roaring lol.

start lvl will be lvl 7, i think its only fair that ppl start with one spell at least, and also we;re going to make some hunt areas soloable and some hunt areas group hunt areas, e.g. bichon mines ppl can solo in (ok spawn rate etc) but serpent valley u'd need to be in a group (insane spawns etc)

as for cave teleport, i think it would be good to have SOME cave teleports, like to zt lobby, as ZT is like otherside of MW nearly.

we'll keep u updated with more stuff, keep the feedback coming

the minimaps for blackdragon dungeon and ship maps (i have the tiles and objects just need maps)

start lvl 7 is the best not to high and get ur first skill

server with lvl 34 start 22 start etc r boring :P

I will just write down an idea of an ideal server for me:
Start lvl 33

E-A-C-H mob gives 1 exp only

There are like 17 lvl books dropped from different mobs and are used for lvling.Example:
Lvl34 book gets u from lvl34 to lvl35*Lvl44 book from lvl44 to lvl45 etc.
These books will be dropped from normal mobs but bosses would have a higher chance.
Obviously the higher lvl books will be more rare.

Items:Normal mir items but kinda stronger but still warriors shouldn't go over 100dc wizards over 50mc and taos over 50sc.Rares should be rares.Very rares lol!!

Gold:should be rare as well.

Drops:bosses should drop Gold bars(rare tho) and only like 3-4 items(not all rare obviously).Mobs should drop only books(quite rare tho) and gold.


Well all the above require much GM involving cause they will do the lvling lol and much hexing.But i believe it will be a cool server and most of all a server with some new ideas.

BTW i would like to know how many of ya like this idea?

tbh man that sounds more like a personal server style,

we want our server to be big, have many quests, new areas, group hunting areas, solo hunting areas, and so on

there should hopefully be lots to do including footie!!! lol

also there will only be 2 GM's me and striker. i am obviously not gonna be a corrupt gm and striker doesnt know who to be a corupt gm lol :P j/k

kk guys, unfortunatly due to a series of digusting coursework been landed on myself and striker, the server production is going to have to be delayed until may.

we currently have 3 pieces of college coursework to complete for wednesday 23rd april:

we have to write a manual for this spreadsheet we've made (advanced ict course which means this manual we've made has graphs, cash flow forecasts, stock lists and so on aprrox 60 page manual fully screenshoted)

manual for a game we've made in visual basics (walk the plank, an alternative to hang man) aprrox 40 pages

2 tasks for presenting information, includes writing several documents using the templates we have created and a big ass report at the end

should take me until the deadline to do it all so i'm snowed under with work.

sry about this but it cannot be helped.

Everything you listed up there is in the basic server files :/ iWT, iZT, kinghog with sounds, etc.. etc... PI maps, GI maps, etc.. etc..

I forgot to mention Geoff's 4.0 server files have all of what your server contains if you add deadson's M2SERVER to it, that way you got all the mir1.8 items, mobs, sounds, etc aswell as rthe marriage system, pet rental, hair, etc..
