I think certain people are trying to run some kind of business by running such private servers.Certainly, they are trying to profit through running the server, and it's quite annoying that there are indeed people who donate in order to be all powerful and mighty on these servers. I don't believe these servers will actually have such a large population, that will require donations to help keep the server up. As for the scenario, where the server has been online for a few days, and the owner is asking for money for ingame items, clearly tells me his goal is not to make a successful game server, but rather to make money out of it (which in a way defeats the point of playing a private high rate server etc).

I only know of one server that has been put up purely for the reason of providing others a place to play, the owner never plays on it, never asks for donations and it's been up since at least October 2004, probably longer - so it is possible.


saddley mirworlds went away >< that server kicked assed hehehe hadno d**k's on it when i started playing was ace then all the noobs started playing and most ppl quit then MirWorlds whent down hill from there >< dam u blacknight and co just cuz we owned u had had go round killing low lvls thinking there hard lol o well hehe

Not talking about Mirworlds but yes I believe Fred never asked for donations and his aims of launching the server I believe were selfless.
