The more I see what the archer char is all about, the less I care for it. To me it is like wizard in how he runs about trying to evade mobs while using bow and I never liked this non-contact fighting when you pretty well have to keep moving constantly. Actually archer is worse because wiz when he tames pets or uses mirroring can distract mobs and doesn't have to jockey about. Wiz can also use shield and let himself hammered which he also can do because he kills fast due to the powerful area damage.
IMO fifth char should have been ninja who would mainly fight with hand and feet karate style and who would be throwing those deadly sharp stars (I think they are called shurikens?) and he could also fight with poles (you see that lots in movies with asian actors but you don't see any archer unless its some historic film). Ninja would have items like special gloves and socks and belt special only to this character, instead of helm he would use headbands and the black hood. Ninja wouldn't have all body armor like other chars but only a loin cloth around hips (would be exciting for female ninja LOL) or he would have slick black sock like (clinging) full body armor (and silver for female chars)... and so there would be more items, it could be two piece armor (pants and a top) and he would be a char very vulnerable with little defense but a high atack damage which he would deal out in short fast bursts, like he would jump next to a mob, do a move and jump back right away one or two standard steps distance, depending on level or some skill. Nijnja would continue the line of melee chars that are increasingly more challenging to play (warrior simple to play, assassin requiring more skills and ninja being still harder to play.
It is so easy to come up with lots of ideas for a ninja char but hardly anything for archer, which I think will turn up to be just an abortion among mir chars. What did wemade or shanda think, I don't know.
Ninja char would be exciting and something really new if he had good sounds with the karate like moves, while the archer is dull when you see him stepping back for every other arrow, making no sounds, only rasing his hand with the bow for split second (couldn't it at least be made slower or at least slower at skill level below 3?). I remember mir3 in loging screen where when you selected warrior he made that nice jump and sweep sword while making a war cry but I think in game he wasn't doing anything like that (don't know, never played mir3 long enough to see much of it).
