No DVD player compatable

when ever i try to run a dvd in my lap top it keeps telling me that there is no DVD player on my pc.

i have windows media player 11 Beta. i have downloaded the dvd decoder from microsofts site and still nothin.

i downloaded a MPEG-2 checker off the site also and it says that there isnt any installed.

could any 1 recommend 1 to me to download as the rest wanted £49.99 for 1 which im not willing to pay.

if not its ok ill just have to go have a row with pc world or sumin till ither i or them give in

every thin was installed onto it wen i got it so wud of thought that there would of been 1 on there sum were

yes i can but wen i click to play 1 it says a window sumin like

cannot play file as you have no DVD encoding softwear compatable on your computer

like i say somethin around them lines

Well obviously it's a software problem then....

As DF said, download some DVD playing software like PowerDVD.

Download both of these, make a folder called PowerDVD, Extract all the folders that are in both of these 2 files into your PowerDVD folder. Then open DVDROM folder and open CDPLAY.exe and get installingpunk:
