Ntl Bb

i currently have NTL BroadBand (1meg) an i think well im pretty sure its cable connection.

right the problem is that i have just bought a router a lan card an have orderd an payed for my second computer.

but b4 i was reading thru the ntl pack u get with the installation cd an it says that ntl doesnt support home networking.

does any 1 kno if this is true as i dnt wana open the router ect ect bc if its not i can take them bk an get me cash bk.

i was thinking of connecting the 2 computers togeva an the second cimputer has to connect thru this 1 to use the net if a router dnt work.

does any 1 kno if this is true or not bc AOL said the same thing to us but i managed to get it all workin but then we lost connection with AOL bc we used it to much (wich didnt bother me bc AOL is ****)

if this is possable an u kno it let me kno pls bc i dnt wana lose out on £100 quid i mean the new comp i can sell on for me than i bought it for.

not true as far as i know. im on ntl bb (2mb) and im using a router, still get the support and everything.

um dunno ill ask some m8s to moz as a few of them have ntl.... im with aol tho and its gd :P no dl limits and tehey shouldnt have thrown u off lol thast rong..
but if u wnt a home networking system u should go with bt i recon lol its on the adverts and all

They may just mean they dont give technical support..

So any things you need to put in the router to get it working you need to know, ntl may not wish to provide the infromation...

If anything just ring up NTL, but im sure it shouldnt effect your network in any way...

There is no reason why it shouldn't work. As far as they know, it's a PC connected to them. The only problem you may run in to is having to clone the modems MAC address, which can be done in any router afaik.

yea its not true for definate, im on 2meg ntl bb on a router and ive had help and support.

Should be ok.

Personally, i would see what action could be taken against AOL (not sure if any can be taken though) because they advertise as an unlimited service, with unlimited time online, and unlimited downloads. So, therefor they cannot just go about throwing people off the service because they are using it too much... its not right. If they have problems with people using too much of there service, they shouldnt advertise as unlimited. AOL is UNLIMITED, according to them.

As soon as i can get NTL in my area, i am moving to them. I was with AOL, but i found them a bad isp (my personal thoughts), and am now with tiscali but they are starting to annoy me because of there strict FUP.

I was on tiscali and they did the same thing, they say it's unlimited yet you have a limit to the amount you can use it when downloading. Basically when I phoned and complained they told me it was in the contract and that I had therefore been informed before signing up.

I didn't listen to their warnings and carried on downloading at my will but after about a week they capped my daily usage (6am-6pm) to about 2mb of the 8mb I was paying . Even after numerous phonecalls I couldn't get them to backdown as they didn't want other customers to suffer for my high usage.

Finally, after I told them I would indeed stop downloading and cut my usage they told me I would have to show at least a month of improved usage before they would uncap it. Thank god I'm not on that anymore.

Expensive as hell but the quality is excellent.
