Official statement on file leak

Hey all,

So I thought I better give an official statement on the leaking of the Mir Chronicles server files.

I find myself apologizing a lot and unfortunately this is due to a string of malicious attacks/attackers that have been plaguing us since we launched; once again, I sincerely apologize for the latest set of bad news.

As you probably already know, the hacker gained access to the server 48 hours ago and we were uncertain to the extent of which the hacker had gained access to, well I regret to inform you that it appears they gained access to everything and have now publicly released the files including all of your mir chronicles account information (I urge you to change passwords now if you haven't already)

It seems the attacker is maliciously trying to cause harm to the server and its server base (for reasons currently unknwon) by releasing account information (if it was just about the server files he could have easily wiped the db's), they have also attempted to spread the files across as many sites as possible (even those unrelated to Mir).

How will this effect the server?
The server will continue as always, although we are upset and annoyed about this issue, we will remain professional and continue to provide the community with a great server and service.

Due to the public release of the drop files, I will be changing the files drastically immediately, so feel free to have a peek now, but please bare in mind that these will become obsolete overnight.

The leaked files are actually fairly behind my working set, so hopefully the release of V2.0 will make them fairly redundant...

Once again I sincerely apologize and look forward to continuing work and providing you with a great server (long live chronicles!!!! :P).

thanks for this mate, i registerd on here just to look at the files, not that it bothers me too much never had luck getting drops in any Mir I played lol. Although I do agree that there should be a small chance of a rare drop from non boss mobs, just to keep us soloers a bit interested.

it is a great server, and i only offer my opinion on how things are and should possibly be changed because i am under the impression that you do give our opinions atleast a glance.

Thanks for the statement, as you've said the files leaked are fairly behind your working set. Would it be possible to get the Leaked set posted in released section (Of course removing any personal information)

We won't allow them to advertise here.

We have never allowed stolen files to be advertised.

well, hopefully now the files have been leaked we'll get a server with a bit of thought/creativity.

Instead of just "Lets copy euro", (and badly, may i add!)

This can only mean good things, you no longer have a massive advantage and a monopoly on the private server community (woo..)

Why was the source leaked also? Files can only go so far, Chronicles will always have the advantage with the source developing better features.

I would prefer that you focus on stopping hackers doing this again though, sod the drop files it isn't important, preventing another attack which may cause harm to the server should be top of the list.

Yeah I agree totally, im a bit worried cos i used a valid email address, but i have gone and changed all my passwords to stuff.

Is it possible you can reply to me in pm what my previous password was or let me know what the link is to the database files leaked? I need to know if my password for my email was the same and also leaked to everyone to see. I've not played for like 3-4 weeks due to having alot of course work needing to be completed so forgot my login details, I do know my ID and email(s) though.

Please provide me with the information on what is/ isn't safe and what I can / can't change and where?

Still cant change my passwords. Keeps saying account or password wrong yet I can log on y account eith the original password. Any idea if or when u might look into this plz?
