Hey Guys,

Was just wondering your opinions on this:

Would you say it was better to level via quests or straight grind. Cast your opinion!

I haven't managed to get on yet, but I would like to think the best way to level initially would be with quests.

Quests are supposed to take you around the 'Land of Mir' and have you explore everywhere and gain a knowledge of your surroundings, especially if you are new to the game. They should be made to make you understand the game and see what features you have at your hands.

From what i've experienced so far ingame this is how it is, new to the game do the quests see what mirs about even for the old players it's nice to have something to do apart from grind (even if it is collecting/kill quests) it still feels "nicer".
But for pure leveling speed grinding is the way.

Unfortunately it's not quicker, not actually quicker anyway.

I find it faster as it gives me a target and a mission not to get bored with. End up going 2-3 hours without realising.

But the exp I gained in that time is the same as if I grinded for an hour

So I find it "quicker" as I don't notice how much I'm gaining while I'm occupied with a quest, but it's not actually quicker lol

I have put questing, but that's because it's better for ME. I personally feel less bored by following a quest chain, or just going into a cave to kill 150 mobs for the quest than I would by just going to a cave and killing mobs.

Grinding is probably quicker, as you will go somewhere with better exp and level that little faster. or grinding in a group.

Agree that doing quests keeps you going longer.

However if you were just running normal grinding, you gain EXP far quicker on time Vs EXP, you're likely to get bored quicker though.

quests dont give nearly enough for you to run back and forth to npcs.

only thing quests are good for is cash. and it still not the best way to get cash.

Quests probably aren't as fast but i've gotta say they are really fun and get you to explore lots.

I always find it is grinding.

Quests break up the grind though and give you targets to work towards (they also make the game more engrossing for me - time seems to fly when doing them)

some of them are rather good, others aren't great - its always good to grab a quest though, you might find the place your hunting actually has quests associated with it, so you'd be silly to be grinding somewhere without grabbing the quest.

Also dont forget about competition - I havent bothered trying to find the Bone Elite or tried killing the bone elite ghost yet simply because at the moment its just not a good reward form the time spent waiting for everyone else to do it first ;-) so you need to weight the options up depending on the current circumstances.

best thing to do though! get in and have a play, see for yourself and decide which you find is best for you. :)

Just going for the grind is a struggle solo, I mean you make next to money. End up spending 30kish on pots, making 9k back on the hunt, then going to try find an OW for more pots for your next hunt, I spose if your in a grp you can cover more ground etc, but solo is a nightmare!

Atm, im grinding in MM while repeating the OldOre quest.

15K from quest, 10-15k from drops. so i'm making about 5k profit per hunt :P

Gold should be rare, but you shouldn't have to struggle.

From what i can see, it is fairly rare (people are telling others not to sell rarer drops yet because they have a perceived value from other servers! and there just isn't enough gold in the game at the moment to cover the prices people are expecting ) - I haven't struggled for gold (there are fairly safe, easy way to get gold - OmaWarriors/Chestnuts/ebony fruits/mining)

My personal fav method for cash is - Teleport to the noob town - stick on an episode of family guy - kill every spitting spider/ebony tree/chestnut tree you see - i ended up making 80k in one episode yesterday (20-22minutes) Im thinking it might actually be more profitable to avoid the trees and go straight for the spiders but ill need to do some tests with this.

dont forget though, if you get one decent item from a hunt it could fund your hunting for a few weeks! (if you are a scavenger like me, and you dont ever leave a hunt without a full bag! you wont have much trouble.)

i seem to find people that complain about not having cash are the ones that think they are too high level to pick up the precision necklace or copper ring (300-400gold) or pick up the tiny piles of gold.

if you are really poor, you could just stand in safezone and wait for people to drop items on the floor, then just grab them up sell them directly to the junk man (WARNING THE JUNK MAN PAYS 10% LESS THAN THE CORRECT SHOP)

you'd be surprised how much money is just laying on the floor round town! (sometimes right next to the junk man!)

Aye the amount of time ive gone MM and had to tt with a full bag before actually killing anything.

I have no idea were people are getting their money from to be that rich.

Personally i think 20-30mill on here will be quite hard to achieve and maintain.

I think the EXP bonus for your quest should be 15% of the entire mobs.

So say you have to kill 100 Zombies @ 200 exp each that's a total of 2000 exp, the exp bonus should be at least 300 exp, maybe even more.

pple leave stuff behind because their carry ability is low, on sin you are using most carry weight on pots you need and it doesn't help that RTs don't stack in bag, only no excuse is when pple leave gold behind. Mostly you don't want to interrupt leveling for sell off in town.

My impression is quests are fun, wonder who was composing the text in them, was that someone from the dev team here? At least at low level, like lev12-15, the exp and gold you get from them is next to nothing, only good thing is the horse LOL

The low level quests are good, because you can at least get high enough level to wear acc+ items by just talking to the NPCs, meaning that once you do have to start killing you dont miss so much.

Once i got my horse i swapped to grinding, and just pick up any quests i see so i auto complete them whenever i happen to be hunting in that particular cave,
