You'll know when you've gone too far, your CPU will fry.

That would be your limit.

Instabilty is the limit, you can't fry something unless you are a complete idiot or by chance.

The temps it displays for the CPU is way off, try something like speedfan.

It would help to know...

motherboard
cpu
ram
settings
cooling

speed fan says temp 1 30 temp 2 29 temp 3 -128 HD 28 is that ok? that is with the pc clocked back down to only 2.2 instead of 2.4 it was origionally 2.0

The temps for that is off too, your winbond chip on your bios probably doesn't read em well then.

What...

cpu
motherboard
ram
cooling
settings

do you have

Lol, if you have High-RPM fans and a good case, i'd say those temps are probably achievable.

I know i wasn't getting much higher without any fan other than my CPU one running ;)

For the record, there's a good chance the PC3200 ram might hold you back when overclocking. Is it 1 stick, or 2 btw?

Other than that, keep going, and run tests like PiFast and Timedemos to check for instability. When you reach that limit, call for help ;)

There is no way his CPU is running 32c~ idle @2.4 unless his ambient is really cold, unless that is a stock clocked CPU, and that's with aftermarket air cooling.

There is definitely no way his CPU is 32c~ idle @ even stock with the stock HSF unless his ambient is friggin friggin cold,

Settings is like...

vcore
ht
htt
vdimm
memory timings
divider

and your agp v should be kept @ 1.5 and your agp/pci clocks to 66/33

I am assuming you are using a half multiplier?

nope i set the fsb to 240, in a manuel setting in the bios there is a selection where u can select preset overclocking at 1% - 10%, it seems fine but atm i am scared to break it lol so i avent went past 2.4 :P i have 1 stick of 512 btw pc 3200.

Urban, those temperatures are VERY possible :P

Make note of two things, first the cold weather the UK is experiencing right now, and that he said AMD64 3000+, *removed*.

Even in my cheap case with 3 cheap fans, i still manage to idle at 33 :P

how cold does it get in your house 30 F?????

And detrisus, how in the world are you qualified to make a statement like that...

Overclocking with a 3000 can yield a 25+% increase in clockspeed... not worth it? BS, of course it is. Oo I ****ed my warranty... who the hell cares you plan on frying your chip anytime soon?

And threadstarter, download 'cpu z' and post screenshots of the cpu, mainboard, and memory tabs.

there u go m8s. that is it clocked by 200 Mhz as it was saying it was like 1.1 Ghz on cpu z when i went higher.
