Russia and China's economy are growing. They run under a different ideology than the West does, that is to say pro-Communist. Russia has made the transition, but still retains alot of the impact their Soviet past had on them. They have many inter-states to deal with (Chechnya ayone?) and China, though slowly making a shift towards the Western (American) Ideal, are on the drawback from their traditional routes which cause many problems in a modern world. It's not a 2D image (we can start a whole other topic on this, but I do fortunately travel a lot with my parents, so I've both experienced and learned a lot (even at my age) about different countries and their people).

Well can you authenticate that image is of a British women? I have to admit that I don't see many fat kids in England, though they're on the rise because of fast foods, which I may add are mostly American brands (McDonalds, Subway etc). Meanwhile, America is a small selfcontained-world, it is a continent with a lot of the environmental diversity that sportsmen from the UK have to go to other countries for. They have everything from tundra up in Alaska to one of the harshest desert/scrub lands in "Death Valley".

Land mass means a greater populous, coupled with good economy and innitial cheap (and dirty) conquering does equate to a somewhat (though innitialy very lawless) powerful state.

Well that matters on where you're comming from. When the innitial colinisation of the Indian's land started, it was the stories of the trail blazers of plentiful lands and bountiful rivers of fish and unsettled lands that attracted so many immigrants. There were actual government legislations which gave immigrants power to plot and settle and claim land without regards to any Indian inhabitance. I do agree with you though, that it was innitially a very hard task, russian wheat had to be imported to last on the uncultivated land and a special bread of oxen/bulls had to be produced.

Then we get other incidents (recent) like the Irish potato famine, which caused mass immigration, and Italian immigration because of poverty and famine... brooklyn :P

Ah well, who cares about Bush, he isn't exactly going to do much. It's his constituency, the people who are behind him, the real puppets, the senate etc that matters. He is just a figure head, and one that is easily manipulated it seems. The American Government are probably sniggering because the population is easily falling for the scape goat of the "incompetant" president, whilst they are given almost complete evasion from scrutiny.
