Edit: My current phone is about 6 years old. It has basic ringtones, basic screen, no internet access or any of that ****. However it functions as a phone, and makes phonecalls. However the money saved from having an "uncool" phone got me a car and car insurance.

Why spend £300 when every new phone comes out when you can save up for something so much better?

Such is life I guess, the same reason people spend £100s on designer clothing when at a glance it looks exactly the same as Tesco brand clothing. Or the same reason people buy expensive cars that can go 1XX mph but the speed limit is 70! Or the reason people become millionaires when you could live comfortably off a much lower income. I could go on!

I think it's the way of live, wanting more and having more and getting that shred of fulfilment.

I still think it's a waste.

I know people that buy the latest phones, games consoles and such. I don't buy anywhere near as much as they do and I'm probably much better off than them due to it.

And cars are totally different. A lot of people don't buy a new car as soon as it comes out, mainly because they can't afford it.

Yup, i have a scratty old motorola c651, crap phone, but plays mp3s, was £20 new, got it a few years ago and its only just startin to go dodgy (maybe thats coz its been thru the washin machine like 5 times)
