can there be a limit of 8 hours of play time a day to stop people from leveling 2 shifts (16 hours) sharing the same character

Ridiculous idea.

However, to combat the casual vs hardcore MMOs like WoW offer more exp the longer you are logged off, maybe something like that is not too hard to implement here ?

eg. for every hour you are offline you gain a 0.1 x exp buff .. upto say a max of 1.5 x .. every hour you are online it reduces 0.1 x

I've always thought a maximum EXP per day would be a better idea to manage that sort of thing. allowing that player to still boss/play

The only problem with that is to balance it right for the higher levels the exp per day allowance would be so big that 80% of the players wouldn't ever hit it daily anyway. so then as a team you ask yourself is it worth peeing off 20% of the server population because they enjoy playing your game for hours upon hours?
and the answer is no.Its really not worth it.

I find it frustrating, just like you that we can spend all of our available time leveling but will never be as high a level as these people that can play longer or do share accounts.
I have just come to terms with the fact that I'm doing as well as I can possible do with the hours I have to play.
Sharing that time between leveling, guild bossing or solo sub'n for cash you will never be the top of any of those games.
I'm mostly content (occasional rage) at being mid to high in all of those areas.

I understand the concept behind the idea but limiting the time in which people can play will cause way more problems than good.

Just lol. When people are online they're not constantly levelling. If somebody does wish to spend 16 hours levelling then so be it. Asking for a daily play limit. lolyourboat!

the idea comes from law created in china years ago (to protect the addicted players) that limits how long you can play a game a day

I can see here he is coming from, but still it made me lol. A better idea would be to block IP access to an account - so can account can only be accessed from 1 different IP per day. Or to generate a GUID which is unique to the machine (such as the processor hardware GUID) and use this as the 1 a day identifier.

Think you'll find it's not to protect anybody, but just yet another means of control over people that were born and bred around the same addictions they are being "protected" from by the very same people ...

While I see where you are coming from about mir, there's nothing you can do about it. People will share, people will hire slaves to level their char. It's the power of money.
