i try and w8 until ive got a good hand be4 i raise the stakes but it can back fire as then they know what youve got etc, but its a good idea to lose a hand now and then when youve got a pair just see it to the end and youve just got to bide your time and mix it up a bit until you get a good hand and you can take some 1 out of the game.

i find it quite boring and repetitive waiting for a gd hand, so i do act stupid some times with my chips.

been playing 4 and a half years mainly on pokerstars ,,, been vegas played at the cash tables @ binions and the monte carlo and my best advise is to fold fold fold and be stupidly patient , get as much money in as u can with the big hands and dont play raggy aces... such as any ace with a lower than 9 kicker its the best way to lose lots of money !!!!!!!!!

if you do start playing and wana chat about it or run anythin by me pm me your msn addy and ill help you out m8

ps. buy supersystems !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the bible of poker (by doyle brunson)

The best players are those that play their own game.
Don't be what people expect (look up Phil Laak, you'll see what I mean).

Maths doesn't really help that much.
Being a fast learner and being able to control your emotions does.

Know when your hand isn't so good. Look at the other possibilities. Know when to fold.
When you start out, play people who have experience. Don't play against your friends, because it's likely they won't think like a real poker player would, and think a pair of Jacks is good.

Study it if you really wanna get into it.
Watch a range of games on TV, from WPT to the likes of celebrity games.
It all shows you how stupid people can be and how to get a tell on someone.

One of the most important things, take your time when you need to, just don't give anything away.

I've always wanted to play properly, but I don't wanna go throwing money about.
Been watching it on TV for probably 5 years now.
It's really easy to pick up unless you're **** thick.

What a load of babble that was.

can tell you have "watched" for 5 years not played as maths ie/ outs % chance of hitting winning hands is very very important
