to the computer you are hosting the gates...

example...

Name ExternalPort IP InternalPort
LoginGate 7000 192.168.1.2 7000

So, are you meaning forwarding the ports via the router settings or in the mir config files?
coz atm im going through the router settings and telling port 7000 and so on to go out via my global IP.. or somin along those lines

you should forward your ports to your static ip on the pc with the server on not your router ip, using the router settings.

example
router ip:192.168.0.1
pc1 ip:192.168.0.100
pc2 ip:192.168.0.200

the server is running on pc2, so you would have to forward ports 3000,7000,7100,7200 to pc2 static ip which is 192.168.0.200

so, in the mirserver config files... i should put 192.168.1.3 (wich the router says is my IP) instead of 81.159.106.71 (which the IPchicken says my IP is)...
or just do some of them?
if so wich files should be set with what?
just the files that use ports 7000 7100 7200 and 3000? (im getting the eventually, slowly understanding :P , just need that little bit more help thanks guys)

For the mir client you put your external IP if you want people to connect or 127.0.0.1 if its going to be offline, which i gather it isnt due to the fact you are asking about forwarding ports.

so basically just use what IPchicken tells u it is.

indeed... well atm, im trying to host it for a test run, but the gates wont open with all the IPs set to wat IPchicken says... but gates dont open... i looked through the guide of setting it up on a router, it said to leave some IPs set to 127.0.0.1.. which i did, and still the gates wont open.. so the last thing to do is forward the ports 7000 7100 7200 and 3000.. which leads me to... where/how do i forward my ports? via config files or router settings?

Via router settings and you would need to forward those ports to the PC's IP you are hosting the server from.

the router ip is different to your Lan and external ip.

as i described in previous post forward ports to the Lan ip of the pc hosting server.

Look in your server ini's it should tell you what ports are needed, go into your router lobby and get to the port forwarding, and forward the correct ports

Right... go to the PC you are hosting the server from. Get the IP of that PC, then go to your router settings, forward the needed ports so they would go to the PC you are hosting the files from.

192.168.1.1 eth-0 = router's ip on rj45 port
192.168.1.2 usb-0 = router's ip on usb port

now goto your computer.. run cmd and type ipconfig and it will show 192.168.1.3 or something... that's your computer's ip.
