Hi there, currently im having a problem running 3D games on my system, never noticed the problem before as i only used it for Mir at the time and the GFX never really runs at full speed untill i go into a 3D app. When i log into WOW (for instance), I play for about 5 mins then it crashes to a black screen and then the monitor goes onto standby, now ive read this can be a problem if your PSU hasnt got sufficient power going to your GFX card, also when i run scan for artifacts on ATI tool, after say a min of running it starts throwing up artifacts all over the place and can lead to system crash also.

Current Specs-

AMD X2 4200+ (Socket 939)
Asus A8R32 MVP Deluxe
2GB Corsair XMS 3200 TwinX (2x1GB)
Sapphire X1950XT 512 edition GFX.

I read that my new card is very power hungry and thats where i got my conclusion from, my current PSU is a generic 550W PSU, i read that in order to run any X19xx series card you need a PSU with at least 30a going through the 12V Rail, and its also better to have a single 12V rail PSU rather than a newer 2x12v rail.

I was looking to maybe upgrade to this.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...4&name=Corsair VX 450W ATX PSU (CMPSU-450VXUK)

Or even the 550W version of this PSU for more stability.

Feedback on my problem and the PSU would be geat.

dont know if you sorted this but I highly doubt a 550w psu is unable to run them parts, 550 should be plenty enough to run them.

It could be down to the G/Card being faulty and when being used to run high end game's its not able to handle it.

I would sugest running the config on the card to fully test the card to its max and this would be a great indication of wether or not the device was faulty.

The thing is, ive read it on about 100 diff forums of this card, and even ATI suggest you need at least 30a going through the 12V rail, i have 16a, not even nearly enough to run this card, yes it will run the 2d clocks, desktop/2d games, but when it goes to full load and uses the full power of the card, that when i get the problems. Its not all about the total output of the PSU, its all about certain specs, like the newer ATX 2.2 PSU's the the dual 12V rails are meant to be useless for high end rigs due to the exact same reason.
