Nope... 1.4 is an inferior version and cannot be furthur developed without the source.
I said the same thing about the 1.9 'feel' and got told I was crazy, but its true!

The source is the makeup of a program - gives the environment instructions on how to execute its functions. You can't find it, as its written by a programmer. The only 'real' way to get it is from the programmer themselves (unless they've released it). Everything you seen has sources, even this page your viewing (a combination of HTML4, PHP, Javascript and AJAX).
A loose analogy would be DNA... you can change DNA to give a specimen different features, same with source code.
If we had the source, we could edit it to add new things. Since we don't, we instead have people who write 'emulators' which mimic the functions of the original source without actually having it. The 1.9 files are example of this emulation.
However much of this 'feel' you notice is derivitve of how the client works. I'm pretty sure we do have the client source available if you ask around. I'm not the one to ask about DirectX... but I'm almost positive DirectX improvements could restore this feel we've noticed.

lol, All 1.9 features. You can use some, but not everything it has. Check for a thread by Milo with 3 m2servers in. FTSM is bugged as it doesn't save your character thing. The other two I'm having trouble with atm.

ahh right, sorta cleared things up for me, so its impossible to find the source? :l thats sad, 1.4 for teh win,
(cant wait till we have all skills euro mir has in now, would make private servers best, as you could make it alot more dependant on killing boss's, make it more towards euro mir style, rather then the different feel of a private server. well thats all if all the skills are in ledu client)(dont like ledu myself)
