It's Mir. It happens unfortunately.
Don't think Jamie did anything at all when it was fairly common on Marble, so I wouldn't expect too much to happen here if I were you.
Putting filters on chat would give him more headaches than allowing it, as people seem to go mental when you try and stop racist chat. The most common argument being "but mah free speech!" and then a slightly more eloquent "If they wanna be racist, the community will shun/ignore them. No need for policing'

Free speech only goes so far. I’m a firm believer if you wouldn’t say it to someone’s face you shouldn’t say it behind a keyboard, but hey most wont care about that.

This is, unfortunately, the world we live in, not just Mir. It happens everywhere, every game, every app, every platform. I watched a youtube stream the other day, and the chat was absolutely horrific, like nothing you could ever imagine.

How so? Bear in mind I never said any of that was my opinion. Just that always happens on Mir servers.

I don't disagree with what Jamie said I mean, as in he can't/shouldn't spend his time policing chat - I'd prefer he filtered certain words in chat, as that in itself seems fairly easy/no (heavy) policing involved.
I agree there should be some punishment, but presumably he feels ignore and block are sufficient.

This is his Mir3 server. No doubt you could use Crystal as a jumping off point, but at finishing point it would be entirely different anyway I imagine.
He built both file sets from the ground up from what he says. So Marble, and Zircon are entirely unique and individual beasts.
Personally think it should just be a free for all. Haven’t seen anything massively offensive in global yet tbh.
The irony of people whinging about the n word whilst being more than happy to be in guilds with people who are racist as fk to the Chinese and Romanians though is funny.

I believe you can turn global shout off if it's offensive to you. Not sure how but someone in-game can likely help.

That doesn't really resolve the issue as then I can't see any global shouts.
I shouldn't have to go round blocking loads of people either, the GMs should be responding to this type of behaviour, whacking people with the proverbial ban hammer and it would soon be stamped out. (chat ban >> extended chat ban >> temp account ban >> extended temp account ban >> permanent account ban)
In reply to ipwnu one of the comments was around rice pickers, I can only assume this was an attempt to conjoin two insults into one.

Could add a simple filter system that players can turn on and off, chat should never be policed heavily though.

racism is not just a mir problem and should be punished extremely as it is one of the worst thing people can think and say/act like. You dont know what people you hit with those racist words, maybe the lived through many shitty phases of life filled with racism. I felt sucht things too, and its not funny (and my humour is usually without any exceptions).
My Opinion - 1 Time racist = 24 hours FULL chat ban (no whispers no global no normal group or guildchat)
2nd Time = 72 hours the same thing
3nd Time = Server ban 72hours
4th Time = Permanent ban
no joking, as the "Boss" of this server who has the might to fight those things you should do something and please dont act lazy or something else. **** those racist **** we are all human
