RAM Advice

Hi right i have:

256MB DDR 266MHz CL2.5 Hynix [Stick]
512MB 1Rx8 PC2 - 3200U - 333 - 10 - A1 Samsung [Stick]
512MB DDR 333 CL2.5 Infineon SDRAM [Stick]

[Unwanted]
And 5 Other sticks of 256MB

i want to know if those would work if i slapped em into my comp? i havnt got alot of RAM as it is in my home PC i think i have 512 MAX with this i should have over a GIG so would be better just im not sure if they would work.

i think u can use any ddr ram together

but if u use lets say ddr 333 ram with drr 266 u 333 ram will run a 266 aswell

ive had 333 and 266mhz ram sticks in my pc b4 and it ran ok

u just cant mix sdram with ddr

thats what the sticker on one stick says. and will me motherboard be ok with the RAM cos some dont work if u use different ?

sry i'll rephrase it u cant mix pc100 and pc133 with ddr 266 and anything higher

ur motherboard will only accept one type of ram
sdram - pc100 and pc133 ram have different notches on them to
ddram - 266,333,400

if they fit u should be ok but check ur manual to see what ram it can take some take all ddr ram soem take upto drr 333 or ddr266 etc

It depends on what your current motherboard has.

If it has DDR, you can add what you have as long as

A) The speed is equal or higher to what already is in there
and
B) Both can coexist with the same timings

Yes. But all modules must be the same type. It's okay to add higher-speed modules; they just won't run at their full speed. The newest Rambus systems using the Intel 850E chip set with a 533-MHz frontside bus require 800-MHz or 1.066-GHz modules with an access speed of 40 nanoseconds. And these modules are incompatible with earlier Rambus systems.

There is no newest, they're all old peices of crap.


Dual channel DDR, even single chanel, blows it out of the water.


That's dandy, event though your motherboard supports a max of 4GB, assuming your motherboard supports the max and not a lower 3 or 2GB.

right my 2 512s dont fit since they only have 2 slots but others do atm i just got my testing pc up to 446MB of Ram would be higher if the 2 slots fit i might get a new motherboard

What do you mean they don't fit?

What motherboard do you have with what cpu.

i mean that the Ram sticks i have only have one slot but my mother board takes sticks with like 2 slots in the bottom

dont matter now since i found an 8x64/72 which is 512 aint it?

2 slots is sdram, 1 slot is DDR.

Why dont you take ALL your RAM sticks out.

Check over them all making sure That the ones your gonna put in are compatible with your Motherboard.
