Yes it has been reduced and no it is not a botched system, This is not euro mir and the refining is codded different
I have had 2 weapons to +6 from refines but then again I know how the system works.

there are also a few players in game that have refined with great success.

How many weapons broke before you got to +6? :D My personal experience is that it is nothing like euro, so I'm going to sit quietly until someone else cooks up a recipe!

None they both broke going for 7
The whole system is different then euro and was totally programmed, they reason for this was a lot of people know how to refine on euro and we wanted a fresh playing field for everyone.

When a GM with unlimited resources (and knows how the system works) can't get past +6 I'd say the system isn't great and not worth it.

Just a personal opinion - it was obviously designed this way for a reason I'm sure.

So now a +6 added weapon is not great and because a GM has unlimited resources we should be able to make +10 weapons no problem, really.

There is always an element of luck and random (this is Mir) there is also always a chance of breakage, my 2 refines just happened to both break going for 7.

the chance for it to break should be just like a gem, nothing should be a dead cert imo.

no1 should be abl to get +6-10 because there recipe is good... it should be 2max for a almost dead cert recipe and then the odds get smaller for a success.

My first refine I got a Gaxe to +5...

Hint: I used amethyst necklaces.

Like I will say again DC weapons it's not an issue they refine easy let me know when you have tried getting MC weapons to +6. I would be interested to know if you tried MC also BH.

In refining terms +6 is not great and of course a GM with unlimited resources should be able to make +10 easily (They know the code and have all the items in the world).

Personally feel refinings a major disappointment due to the inconsistency, or "luck/random" as you put it.

Just my personal opinion and I'm sure I'm in the minority.

Depends on how they want it to work, you could refine with confidence on official as with a good recipe you could get to quite a high/consistent % chance of it working (not to mention jumps of +2 or +3 these exist here?), refined level 40weps to +6 and did a 14 stat refine on a level 36 wep so the possibility was there. If the code is anything like say crafting gems then you will never confidently refine anything short of lowish level practically shop items (cap of 70% with a perfect recipe-> maybe 50% with an average recipe? maybe alot less?) this is just speculation at this point, I have not talked to anyone that has any confidence refining yet. But might take some time, depending on the complexity of the system (variables could include the wep your using, body luck(we know it does) amount of jewlery used, amount of different type of jewlery, level of jewlery, base stat of jewlery, top stat of jewlery, combined total stats of the max or min or both of all jewlery or just some, stats of the worst piece of jewlery used, or the best, or the highest amount,etc etc)

There really should be SINGLE 100% success rate recipes up to +10 for every item using level-appropriate jewels. If someone is ballsy enough to break 5 +6 WMSs finding it they bloody well deserve to be able to churn out +7s. They're still going to be constrained by mats, it's not like they can farm Life Neckies/DBells/etc.
