Due to recent events may i remind you that you cannot be banned for anything in a PM. Seems some people didnt know.
Remember PM means "Private Message" meaning its private and therefore not bannable.
Personally i think Pms should be bannable. They are connected to LOMCN and they are using it on their own risk. If they want to say anything then they can use Messanger or something
Just play it safe like I did... one of the reasons the Limited Member class was created. Limited Members cant use PM;s - therefore if they are being abusive they can be demoted.

I think it should be bannable, im sure that if anyone sent an offencive pm to Dataforce or any other admin they would be banned etc.
Also there is the rule of not offending any staff members which doesnt mention precifially whether or not it applies to both pm's and/or posts so it could be taken as applying to pm's and both depending how you look at it
Hmm well there is a rule saying "No flaming outside the Hall Of Flame" well as far as i know this applies to every where outside the Hall Of Flame yes? Well as far as i know Private Messages aren't in the Hall Of Flame therefore according to that rule you can't flame anyone in Private Messages.
Also its not fair to give a different punishment to someone if they flame a normal user than if they flame a staff member really is it?
I dont think you can compare posting on a forum with sending a pm. Therefore the forum rules should not b applied to pm(common really think people will let their links b authorized before they send em with pms? ).
But that doesnt mean no rules shud b set for pm, continuess flaming and mass spamming shud not b allowed no matter how private
