Return to castle "Wolfenstein"

I've always been a fan of the Wolfenstein games.
Found this one at a bootsale today & picked it up.
But I am stuck on the first mission.
Sounds silly but I don't know a way to kill the guy with the rifle.

If you've played this game you'll know what I am on about.

There's no where to get a rifle yet & I am too far away to use a machine gun or pistol.
I can jump down and run towards him but he kills me in 4 shots.

Can anyone who's played this and knows what to do get back to me?

Apart from this I think it is an excellent game.

EDIT:
The first mission is to escape from the castle, using any means necessary.

I'd help you, you definetly can get rifles etc just cant remember how been a while since i played

you can play it online for free, but you don't get the single missions. The online play is fantastic though =) (i didn't buy it so i've never played the single player, sorry)

Is that the Wolfenstien free "Online Play" game without the single missions that you play??
If so i am going to download it ^__^ i had a copy of the game from a mate once before on disc, but i lost it And i always played it online anyway lol :P

I think that's pretty much how I did it too :S

If I was at home I'd install it and play through to have a better idea but alas, I am at work.
