i intend on getting on new cheap pc soon, to run a web server on. but for the moment i plan on setting up a dual boot system, having windows 7 and xp home. putting all the web server stuff on the xp home partition whilst i set up the site.

Once i get a new pc, am i able to save the whole image of this partition on to a cd, and load it on to the hard drive of my new pc?

So i dont have to reinstall everything once i get my new pc.

Yes, You can google software to take an image and write it to DvD, Although you will need to get drivers ect for your new computer once tansfered.

That sounds like "Virtual PC"

XP should work well on virtual pc (some windows 7 versions comes with XP mode)
