server files. what have you tried?

couldnt tell you why, but i love playing about with mmo server files. aslong as the game itself is good.

iv tried..

mir2, mir3
lineage 2
wow
rose online
ultima online
woool

but tbh, i havnt found a game which makes me want to constantly play it, and have the server files for it.

i wanted to try eq2, but all the server files are non existant for it now.

l2 is way too big of a game to modify
wow is the same
rose has no content
mir is now boring and 2d isnt to my liking
ultima is great, but the graphics suck for it

really, i want a 3d game, with graphics like lineage 2, but not as huge in size. and has available server files. lol.

am i asking too much?

RF Online is good but is much like L2.

L2 and WoW are not to big of a game to modify. Theres RYL and other similer games.

i see it this way.

in mir, you add an npc, and ppl notice "ooo, a new npc"

in games like wow or l2, it would be likely to never notice a new npc.

l2 has too many features to be a successful private server imo.

wow isnt as bad i had to admit.

that really depend what that npc is doing, if its something really cool/useful they will sure notice it.

In mir its more like "ooo, a new npc" then they teleport away to some cave that has the most exp and sit there using halfmoon for 8 hours with a coin wedging the F1 key in place. Then they come back and solo some boss after teleporting right to the bossroom.

Either that or they sit complaining that they cant do any of the above.

there are a lot of succesful l2 servers m8
some have 4000+ players but all consist of a server team no chance in doing all alone

Lets go through your list:

mir2, mir3
Server files - prety much caught up with offical, run stable and can hold as many as your line speed will allow.
3 Classes, Small Landscape means 10 can play the game as much as 10,000 can.

lineage 2
Half the game can be played Solo or with a small group but the other half (Castle, Boss Mobs, Guilds etc) need a good number. As the maps are so large this can mean I can be standing in the same town and you would never see me. I still believe L2 is the best playable Priv Server set of files out there at the moment though.

Maps too big, Buggy as hell and hard to get client for the normal person unless you share it of course !!

This is just Mir2 once again with a few things that are different.

I stopped going to all the trouble of messing with server files, there is plenty of FREE MMORPG out there to suit all tastes and the flip side is there is always a LOT of people online, means I can switch off when I feel like it etc.

the best l2 server i know is l2 supreme with about 17 staff members (including Gms) but i dont think you would need that much
