Server IP made easier

I know a lot of people are currently using no-ip as there ip for there server, ive found and have tested it a much easier way.

There is a program called Hamachi which does exscatly the same but only better. This is also better to use if you are VNC/RDP to a host as the ip never changes from the machine it is installed on.

Hamachi is a zero-configuration virtual private networking application.

In other words Hamachi is a program that allows you to arrange multiple computers into their own secure network just as if they were connected by a physical network cable.

Hamachi is fast, secure and simple. Its core version is also free.

If anyone wants a step by step guide on how to set it up(which they shouldnt its that easy)the please post here.

And chould a mod sticky this if at all possible.

Heres a quick setup guide:

First of download the software from the link above.

Now install the software just keep pressing next.

Once uve done all that run the software. It will ask you for a user name, just put in what name u want.

Now click on the little triangel on the bottom right hand side and it will bring up a new menu.

Click on create new network.

Now imput a network name, it has to be 4 - 16 letters or numbers and add a password. Then click ok.

The IP at the top of the program is what u use for all ur gates and things.

In order for your dev team to connect to the server machine/s they also need this program installed. For them to connect to hamachi they need to press connect to exsisting network and need the password for that network that you created.

This is a good program for low end servers with a use count of 60 or less, im not to sure on how it handles after that mark.

Have you gotton this to work? If so please post a guide before a sticky is granted. Personally I would have thought 40 players over a VPN would lag them all.

Imo, no-ip is still easier.

It is a good concept, but with mutiple hammering a connection the results could be very negative. All the ni ip dose, is update the no ip address with your current ip address every X mins. Then litlary any program that required and ip address can use the no ip address.....even web servers.

The thing is with this it never needs the DNS setting updated, only as and when the secruity updates are added to it. Ive found it a lot easier to use than no-ip.

And what is that all in aid of.

I myself personally have found this to be easier to use and setup compared to no-ip, i found it a bit daunting using the guide for no-ip and didnt really follow it(yes i had a server working using no-ip). Its good for those that aint to bothered about having a high end server and is far easier to understand than no-ip so its good for all the noob server owner wannabies out there.

Forgive me mapadale but I'm just not seeing the rose tinted light here.

Obviously the client running on your machine will keep the service updated with your IP address, which is the same principle as NOIP. Top that off with the fact that it encrypts all the traffic to and from your server.

Imagine the overhead that this entails. A good sabuk war with a screen full of mobs would probably kill the thing. Unless of course they have some magic bandwidth they don't mind you using.
