Gotta be careful with language barrier and all that, but I agree the overall feeling I got from HASA was he was threatening to quit due to these issues, which frankly doesn't help anybody and certainly doesn't help us fix the problem any faster. If you're having connection problems, tell us and we will try to help.

The guy is basically saying you can't protect your server well enough for his standards pretty much and is gonna quit, i defend you and get a bollocking?Fair enough i wont bother defending server team again then...lmao.

Again explain how someone crying that they are gonna quit and saying the server is not well protected, followed by my reply , means i have the mentality of a 12 year old? think before you type...

If i came on the forums saying im gonna quit because of some lagouts/account issues i'd expect a bollocking.Yes your having problems but why threaten to quit? what i WAS trying to get across Babyhack is you guys are trying your hardest and no game is flawless, but clearly you read the message behind the lines wrong.

My apologies - it appears I quoted the wrong post :/

And BH, a good DDoS attack is more or less untraceable, but sometimes people rush them/do them our of anger - and its then that they slip up and tend to do stupid things.. Also depends on how the DDoS was initiated.

Is it still ongoing - or have they give up now. We all have a good idea who is doing it - so I imagine it will keep up until they have bypassed certain security measures you have put in place. I cant imagine what they'll do when they find out they can't do that :D

It is still on going... Basically our hosts anti dos system just stops all connections for specific geographical locations during a ddos attack (whether this is because of a high amount of unexpected traffic from a specific location, or because there are known black listed locations, I don't know). It has been on and off since Sunday night, we are working with the host on a solution as it doesn't appear they want to give up.

In the interim we plan on adding no drops during times of ddos (the mechanism has been fixed since our event and we are in the testing phase now).

Just to point out (and this isn't directed at you Phawk, just generally), the reason some people are loosing connections/unable to connect more than others is because of the protection put in place... I have been very impressed with the host as many hosts would have crumbled and no one would have access during a DDoS attack.

I seem to recall a period back in Euro Mir where the connection was closed for around 2 weeks due to DDoS attacks as Gamenetwork were unable to protect against it full stop.

So in my opinion the host seems to be doing a sterling job :)

A nice server can attract some jealous people. Did you get some email asking for money?
It used to be a common dirty strategy while some servers are competing with each other.
Nice job for the team.
I love the server
It is protected, the attack has been ongoing for 3 days (sad really) and the server is still online and running bar maybe the odd disconnect but these seem to be rare as I was ingame for 4 hours last night and had no problems, there was also 200 other players at one point.

Maybe there is an issue with your account as nobody else seems to have a problem.
PM me your account name.

You know that DD is planing to take control of the whole earth. Maybe wear your suit and come to save the stupid human being, my hero? (Sorry for my bad English, I think what I mean is : you need to be saved because you are wearing a stupid suit and thinking you are a hero.)

I have to say, they are pretty awesome hosts if this is the case. A lot of hosts I know, would want to take more 'drastic' actions. I'm not sure on the original source, but in the C# source, it is possible to hide the IP/hostname of the server. Going forward, is that an option you guys can take, by hardcoding it into the client? Or even getting the patcher to check a text file on a very basic server - which can direct it to the correct place ?

I know this isn't foolproof, but it might be a start.

The ip is already hard coded into the client.

But like you said it means nothing really.
