Gay idea, I don't want to have to kit a pet too.
It's all about options mate. This has been a problem for years. It's obvious that's it's either too difficult to change or they lack the imagination to come up with ideas.

Anyway i wouldn't make it something stupid like power rings i would make it be stuff from a shop that everyone can get. You just need the levels to use them.

This seems to come up every few months, with people saying taos dont do enough damage etc. It's like people forget that taos are a support class.

Youve got two pets, one of which you can set to specifically target a player which means they're on constant flinch. Is this not enough? Yes warrs can LR, but when that warrior stops to LR the pets the tao widens the distance and can attack. The warrior is then flinched and by the time theyve started chasing down the tao again it's almost time to stop and LR again.

Taos are a support class and they can honestly make or break a fight due to their exceptional crowd control/'passive' attack spells, eg red poison. If you want taos to start doing more damage then you need to either re-balance things like curse and masters target, or increase the defence abilities of other classes. No class should have it all which is effectively what's being asked here.

Why not make it so once you reach 5 levels past the level needed for level 3 it could be made so it can reach level 8 ( black name ).

That's the thing, the way Mir is going, Taoist need to be taken away from the whole "Support Class" role and be able to deal the type of damage every class can. With other classes being given skills to also support the group.

Some examples. (Spell Levels 0/1/2/3)

Warrior - BattleShout - Raises the groups Health by 30/60/90/120
Wizard - MagicField - Gives group members and smaller magicshield absorbing 40/80/120/160 damage - Cooldown of 40 seconds
Assassin - RandomBuffName(cant think of one suiting an assassin) - Gives the group a buff that causes them to ignores enemies defense lasts 6 seconds - cooldown determined on level of spell 180/150/120/90 seconds
Archer - BloodAura - Gives the group a buff which gives them a chance to regenerate Health on attack - 3%/4%/5%/6% of Health regenerated

Keep in mind these are just examples of what could be done to make every class viable in a damage role.

And when Monk gets introduced and it's giving buffs yet also dealing out more damage than a Taoist, even more Taoists will complain that Monk are a "Support Class" yet deal the same damage as other classes.

Tao aint a support class, they have great utility skills but there no support class, some nob classed em as that many moons ago and everyone jumped on the bandwagon.
your referring to pvp which is a small part of the game, and as you say it keeps coming up then its obviously viewed as a problem.

you may not say "tao is support class" in a game where ppls' mentality is to play solo. honestly i never saw a "dps class" to shout in towns looking for a tao for duo/trio/any compilation lvling.
it is even unseen in my guild (maybe im in a wrong one but i dont think is a guild problem...)
the advantage of being in grp with tao is too low over lvling solo, cause i assume its all about lvling not hunting or pvping where still tao is very handy class.
so when it comes about lvling it all comes down to the fact that tao needs more dmg against mobs only so he could lvl by oneself as fast as other classes but do not deal more dmg to other pcs.
Concluding, i see two options here: make all mobs MORE vulnerable to holy/pets' dmg or make few caves with such mobs. the idea of making summons stronger will inflict disbalance problems - the hard topic..

Tao aint a support class, .

Lol, it's posts like these...
Tao in bdd, buffs@ent, poisons ks, ue's, heals, amc+ac, revs, no pets.
Goes Ks kr does same, goes iwt does same+shield+more heals,+curse, not 1 spell has damaged, beside halluing the archers a tao touches 0 mobs, no sfb cast, no pois cloud.
Same with izt and dd..A pro tao doesn't deal damage, nor kit up in full sc, you should be purely defense/amc/ac/agil/hp, I have seen 3 taos played properly on this server.
3..

to many taos want to be the best taos ingame and have the best SC and take 200 hp per sfb, when theres warriors and sins that can do that with half the effort

stick to what you know, pois buff curse if you have it

the lack of healing i see from taos in fights is unreal, if youre standing at the back of a fight which you should be, throw a heal or a puri in there every so often

having played a warrior and a tao, a heal and puri every so often is appreciated much more than a SFB which does 80hp

however shinsu could do with more PVE damage i think, it works well in fights as the warrior has to pause to LR the pet, as does a wizz to TU it, which gives you the option to either land a poison, or land a SFB to get the flinch/sfb/flinch/sfb thing going on

1v1 shinsu is best thing you can have against wiz/sin as it just stops them running, however warrior/dash is a nightmare and you just got to be patient and hope they make a mistake or run out of pots or until your backup arrives

"support class" referrs to group hunt/pvp playstyle.
tao also should have possibilty of "summoner class" playstyle when soloing. this way it worked on many servers and i believe this is how tao should be.

The support class arguement will be used over and over as they're mainly the one class that can increase damage to others (Poisons & Curse), mass heal, pet summon & Masshide etc. If people wanted them buffed they'd unfortunately have to rework the class in my honest opinion as they have a lot of utility currently as it stands.

People who use the arguement of "well a warrior can do this, an assasin can do that" yes, you're comparing it to damage dealing classes. There's no utility classes TO compare the taoist to, it's role IS unique. There isn't any support class to compare it to, there's support skills sure but not a class. So it's really hard to balance this. If there was another support class it'd be fair arguement to be honest but until then it's a really fiddly one.

Upping overall damage of a taoist either requires : rework, or removal of certain skills IF you want it to be a damage dealing class. But that is my two cents, i've played a wizard and a taoist over the many years of mir, and personally always find that taoists don't have the best of roles as most people just want the whole "let's blow **** up" roles rather than the "i want to help you" role.

I'd be so interested to hear who these 3 super Taos are.

I agree I've only seen 3 worth their salt, I just fancy we might have different ones in mind :p

Oh, another idea.

How about giving Taoist the option to sacrifice their pets for a buff that causes their attacking spells to deal more damage. As soon as a pet is re summoned the buff disappears, this way they receive no buff in PvP(Which they rock in), but gain a much needed buff to help with leveling at the pace every other class can.

There are other Taos ingame that are 'worth their salt' Nyx (the original one not the random chinese person) for example is one of the better tao's taht i've played with.

With regard to this argument, it's been a topic which has been discussed on forums over and over again. I've personally been a tao on EVERY server that i have ever played since mir2 dragon (changed to phoenix after the scandal which was the great password reset!) Went for an archer this time around because i wanted to do range DPS without being a wiz and a warrior for the straight up hack and slash which always looked interesting. Anyway I think the whole 'support class' argument came from the lore that was on the official site which i believed said something along the lines of 'a tao's main strength is it's utility within a group of players. Due to the supportive nature of its class, a true tao will come to light in the darkest hour (hardest situations)" or something along them lines. Most people who also played similar games at the time saw the tao as mir's version to the cleric/paladin and its obvious to see why this link was made.

Having played one over the years i tend to agree with czeldaborg when he says that it's unique in its own way. My personal view though is that it on both mir 2 and 3, it is a utility class pure and simple. It will never rival a wiz or war for their solo levelling speeds and i dont think they ever should. The day that it happens is the day they start to become OP. Ideally to level quickly they should be hunting with at least 1 other person and their role in the group is to poi/heal/buff. The attack skills are for aggro purposes or for debuffs (curse/puri) and that applies to both PvE and PvP.

All bosses should require a tao in my opinion but no tao should be able to solo a boss, how i would do it is for another topic. With regard to the pets, they again shouldnt really be compared to the pets of a wiz because they are there, not as dps output, but mainly as distractions/shields for the tao which aid him to survive. The dog should have high hp and low damage and is basically a meat shield, the deva is low hp, higher damage to draw aggro away from the tao/cause further obstruction allowing the tao to move. I agree that they should get higher level pets but again these shouldnt be doing much more in terms of DPS but should echo its predecessor.

A PvP is won or lost on the grounds of a decent Tao, i just dont think that servers these days cater or promote group play as much as they should. I.e. group exp buffs so that you aren't penalised for hunting with someone. That is why we end up with discussions (not necessarily this one) about people not wanting to play taos becase they are poor for solo levelling. They are working as intended, it's just people often dont truly understand how to play them effectively. They were and still are imo considered one of the hardest classes to play, i've truly missed playing one on this server, i just haven't the motivation or the time to reroll and start over again after putting so much time into my warrior even if it is only level 44!
