SQL 'Cry For Help'

Guys i've been trying to fix my SQL for about a month now and still having no luck.
Im trying to avoid wiping my computer as ive got alot of stuff i need on here and nothing to save them onto.

Heres the problem;

When I try to install SQL i get an error 'Please Restart You're Computer'
This happens everytime i attempt to install the programme even though my computer has been restarted 50+ times beforehand.

KillMaster has had the same problem but can't remember how to fix it.
If anybody has any ideas can you let me know as soon as possible please, cheers.

What version of SQL does vista run on again? MSSQL/MySQL 2000/2005?

if you have the famous "sql 2000 pending file operations", just google that and you have to delete some registry entries.

sql 2005 and above works on vista

No bleeding wonder. Ive been trying to install SQL 2000 lol.
I'll give 2005 a bash now

Installed SQL 2005 Express Edition

Its a complete different SQL and i aint got a clue weather im coming or going.
Maybe ive gone wrong somewhere?

Download that + aint got a CLUE how to use it.
+ I've been told by somebody else that I can use SQL 2000 with vista

It's all getting kinda confusing now..
I know that i've used SQL 2000 before on my old computer with vista + this new one

Its leaving me completely baffled.

if you know how to use sql2000, it shouldn't be that hard to use sql2005.

To be completely honest I dont have the slighest clue lmao.

Was trying to view the tables etc so i can export my db in
