Nice apostrophe usage there. No I haven't myself. Solid states are a bit expensive at the mo but I've heard they're quick.

ive heard the raptor can get terribly hot and noisy though. :/

SSD is
smaller.
faster in access time.
more expensive.
flash based, so its memory will die after 1000-1000000 writes.
quieter and cooler.

There are enclosures that holds 2 or 4 of these drives and do RAID 0 or 10.

# of writes is my concern. Usually more writes = more expensive.

they are small and quick and die fast if you read and write to them too much. they are great for storage access.
