They really need to let StarGate go

I dont get where this fits into the whole "StarGate Universe"
I mean are they on earth, if so where is SGC
They are not on Atlantis
Is it in the future or something

They way they are talking about not knowing what the StarGate does or where it sends you sounds like they have never used it before

Stargate Universe (abbreviated as SGU)[1][2] is an upcoming military science fiction television series, part of the Stargate franchise. The series was greenlit on August 22, 2008 and is scheduled to debut on October 2, 2009[3] as a two-hour movie and then begin regular weekly airings on Syfy in the United States in October 2009. Sky1 will air the series in the United Kingdom and Ireland in the autumn of 2009. Brad Wright, Robert C. Cooper and Carl Binder serve as executive producers and writers. Stargate Universe started filming on February 18, 2009.

Stargate Universe follows the adventures of a present-day, multinational exploration team on board the Ancient spaceship Destiny. Transported to Destiny in a distant corner of the universe and unable to return to Earth, members of the team are forced to remain on the vessel and fend for themselves.
Stargate Universe will be set on the fictional Ancient ship Destiny, which was part of an Ancient experiment to seed the galaxies with Stargates millions of years ago. While a first ship was sent to seed the galaxies with Stargates, the Destiny was to follow a pre-programmed mission to explore these galaxies until the Ancients ascended and left the ship unmanned. In order to reach this ship, an address would have to be dialed consisting of nine chevrons, a possibility that had been unknown in the previous Stargate series.[4]

The series begins when a team of soldiers and scientists from present-day Earth step through the Stargate to find the Destiny after their base is attacked.[5] They are unable to maneuver the ship or even return to Earth, but they can use the Stargate to visit planets when the Destiny comes into the range of another Stargate and stops for brief periods of time.

Sounds like a mix of StarGate, BattleStar and StarTrek Voyger

It could be good but I think the StarGate idea has run its course and they really should just be done with it

Sounds pretty good. Watched SG-1 as a kid, but never really followed it on. Will most likely watch this though.

Sorry but SGU is utter crap - It reminds me of STB 5 (Startrek Babylon) when that ended with the shadow giving the Drahk a poison that almost destroys earth and the one off spin of series of Crusade, what a biggest pile of crock that was.

They should have left SGA running, as they were no where near in that series being completed. As Atlantis had way more to be discovered and still left the story open for the Wraith........

It's an open verdict really....

If the pilot was that good, how come no one figured out that they where on a ship.

The only pilot that was ever any good, was the original film for the whole series and that was Stargate. But a pilot doesn't have to be good for the series to be any good, SGA was awsome right upto the end apart from the odd story that didn't seem to go anywhere. I give SGU two series before it hits a dead wall, it has no where to go at all.

A ship in the middle of nowhere, that dials into gates that are being setup by other ancient ships. Come on the story is their all ready, its just another SG1. At least with Atlantis the story was its own from start to finish and could have continued further if they had explored the ancients technology further, it might have actually made SGU worth the wait. But it hasn't and yes I am a hardcore SG fan.

they didnt travel 21 light years, the ship had travelled 21 light years in a long space of time (as its not going through hyper space) and they simply gated there...

dont get this comment, didnt they show us that they were on a ship like 5 minutes in to it?

There was a small piolt run about 3 weeks ago, that was about 5/10min long. Which was the teaser trailer for the series and no one got that it was a ship.

This series will not last and is just a remake of SG1 in space.........
