Yes it is possible, had this happen just yesterday, no mobs around.

It can also happen if a tao pet gets the last hit, say deva. Can also break RMS this way.

I was killed by an archer. At about 6 range, I can see what I droped. My holyDC stone disappeared. There is red message showed I was murdered by someone. No any pet around.

GMs have confirmed previously - items which break upon death, will break upon DEATH - regardless of what kills you.

It's just part and parcel of the game now, broke my HolyDC on Archer by ABing someone and getting nailed by Crystal Armour reflect :P

It's a silly bug. With the amount people die on here it's stupid to have stones breaking on pk

Considering they don't break on every PK would hint towards it being a BUG rather than a feature.
Although the staff have have said "yes they should break on PK" I don't actually think they knew what they were discussing at the time.

I know on euro stones did not break from PK (or at least did not when I played) but on here its very hit and miss.
Sometimes they even drop from your body instead of break.

The GM's have said multiple times that stones breaking on PK is not a bug and is working as intended. I believe they said "they wanted to add more of a risk element to pking" or something along those lines.

Yeh I believe it is not meant to break every single time you die, the chances are a lot lower when it's a player kill.

However, they are designed to break on death - when you die, that's a death, regardless of what or whom killed you, you still died.
