mines using 130,000k of memory, isnt that abit excessive?

Depends on which SVCHOST is being used at the time, but it is normal for the SVCHOST to utilise high memory usage.

Open a command prompt and type in tasklist /svc (I think) and see what its running..

about 50 things are being used by it looking at the tasklist.

anyway to reduce it? seems like thats part of the problem of 60% of my ram being used up. (rest would most likely be vista)

I had a similar problem not long ago, was a virus in my case though .

I have http://majorgeeks.com/page.php?id=12 bookmarked as details on it but can't open it up due to my work filter . If it's the wrong link google about, processlibrary.com should have info as well.

Take a look and see what processes are needed, you can switch off any you don't think you need and maybe identify something that shouldn't be in there.
