I'll preface this by saying I have no clue if it's technically feasible to add something of this scope (I don't recall seeing these mechanics used on any Mir server, but know very little about AceM2 and its capabilities) and realize that even if it is, it'll probably go wayyy on the backburner.

There's nothing wrong with Taos not being able to solo, but I, personally, feel that this would make 1.) Taos on here the most kickass ones out of all the servers and 2.) Tao an amazing class to play, whether it's solo or in a group. You can still go smash PB with a Sin or War or go PT with a Wiz, but if you want to solo for a bit/your leveling partners are offline.. well, now you can! At a cost, of course.

I had a thought for a Tao DPS buff that wouldn't change their group dynamic or PvP (unless I've missed something, in which case I'm sure the community will point it out): a toggle stance, similar to the Minstrel stances in LotRO.

Level 27 skill (as that's when leveling, at least solo, starts to slow down). Ranks at 27/27/29/32. At rank 3 it does the following:

Increases Tao damage & pet damage by 25%
Increases SFB cast speed by 20%
Reduces healing done and received (even from pots) by 50% (perhaps this should apply to pets too)
Reduces buff duration (on subsequent buff casts) by 50%
Reduces red poison debuff from 20% to 10%.

15s cooldown before being able to toggle it back off or back on (whenever you press the button you're stuck in the on/off state you just entered for 15 seconds).

If reducing healing done + received and buff duration is not feasible from a coding PoV, maybe smashing their scaling until you reach roughly half would work? Dunno how to circumvent the healing received if it's not straight up programmable as is. If pet damage can't be flat out increased by a buff on the Tao, it can autocast on pets as well. The SFB cast speed increase/buff duration decrease wouldn't make a lick of difference anyways.

Taos will need to keep it off for group hunts if they're the only one and turn it off for certain encounters even with other Taos in the group due to the healing output debuff, the buff duration reduction and the red poison debuff reduction.

The cooldown (especially at 15 seconds) prevents it from being toggled on to smash stuff during PvP, then toggled off to heal, then back on again. To circumvent people just kiting for the duration of the cooldown (or just spamming pots while it's on CD) the healing received debuff could be a separate one and stay on for 15 seconds after you toggle it off. That way you're mostly a sitting duck if you toggle it off during PvP, but it's not a big issue when you toggle it off during a boss fight to help with buffs/heals on group members.

It could also add a visible aura, to make it more easily noticeable when used during group PvP. Your group is bigger and stronger so you pop it on. Enemy X sees you have it on, announces it and they smash you to bits in seconds from the debuff.

Thoughts? Hate mail? Words of encouragement?

I also have an idea for a Healing stance at 40 to go with the DPS stance (for when there's more than 1 Tao in the group), but it might make the thread a wee bit too long.

Re: Tao DPS stance

If they just introduce Plague (an official taoist skill) you'd be fine soloing, it's a crazy spell.

Re: Tao DPS stance

Isn't Plague 46? Taos have trouble soloing starting at like 26 :/

Re: Tao DPS stance

Poisoncloud also bumps up killing speed pretty good I'm sure though that's also at a later level and is scarce, which leaves current Taos in a pretty slow place.

From what I understand red poison adds a significantly less bonus damage boost percentage than old mir which further hurts solo taoists as well as small group taos as Sin's poisons will fulfill the same role (though their flash dash poison with less consistency) while giving a significantly more useful damage output than the Tao can bring to a group in utility, what this means is that sadly in groups of few people Sins make faster support/dps classes than Taos to have along, that feels so wrong to say but it is what it is.

I knew I forgot something.. added reduces Red Poison debuff to 10% and tweaked self damage increase to compensate and further nerf group utility with the stance active.

I dunno, with red the way it seems to be currently unless you're fighting very hard mobs or bosses isn't worth casting on everything in its current state, it seems to scarcely make a difference when soloing as it is that's for sure.
