Unfortunately it is. Very VERY little of the actual Doom storyline has been left in the film. I think just that you're an unnamed marine and that it's set on Mars are the only things relating to it.

yeah i hate movie companies they like to get rights over a name and a few characters so they know people will watch it and screw the **** about with it, so many companies are turning down the Halo movie because Microsoft won't let them touch the storyline they give them

how can you have a doom film and not relate to story line of doom?

scientist decided to build on mars because there were no restrictions. they managed to build a fully working teleport system. only to find out it made a detor through hell each time. demons eventually got through the gap. first they thought they were aliens. later to find out they wernt, killed everyone, bar one marine who is being hunted my the devil. you get taken to hell through a teleporter, and then it just gets stupid..

if the film cant follow that, it shouldnt be called doom. mofo.
