The best there has ever been

LOM was the first MMORPG that i ever played, i was 20 when it was released. I have played Legend Of Mir on and off for 24 years now and no RPG has ever been able to live up to it. World Of Warcraft is by any measure, a far better RPG than Legend Of Mir could ever dream of being but somehow World Of Warcraft only held my attention for 3 years. How a sprite based Korean RPG with lackluster content and a mostly jerk off player base could have captured my imagination for all these years is beyond me, Though i digress.

I truly believe that Mir Chronicles was the best Server that has ever been, and that ever will be. Mir Chronicles miraculously captured the glow of the original release and delivered a phenomenal player experience that far exceeded the OG Dragon or Phoenix servers.

I know this post is nothing more than the musings of a 44 year old guy reminiscing about his first MMO though I still feel that its worth saying that I have never had more fun playing an RPG than i did playing a monk in Chronicles, especially during some of the events that were hosted on that server.

Anyways.

Peace - Love - Respect

Welcome back man, there’s plenty of Mir 2/3 Servers still active if you ever wanted to jump back online. Maybe even release your own, every Mir version has an open source project.

I guess we all have the same feeling whilst playing Mir, you may find the same feeling working on a server of your own. Even if it’s just for yourself.

Hope to see you stick around

Chronicles without a doubt

Since crystal, servers have just gone on a downward spiral.

Most of the blame can be on server owners. same people that cry about crystal being buggy are the same people who use it, fix all the bugs and then keep them private.

Chronicles was tremendous.

I’m playing Arcadia just now and for me that’s hit a great spot in terms of an evolution of Mir while retaining some of the feel. Crystal servers to me haven’t felt right - the next one may change that though who knows.

Chronicles was by far the greatest server we ever had, most enjoyable server I ever played though goes to ragezone 1.9 but peak Mir experience for me is pre TD files. New servers out all the time no such thing as pay2win no bots no levellers, random events by the GMs, server was not 24.7 as most was home hosted was just a fun time to play forums was alive.

Used to be that the official mir forum was half the fun. And it wasn't just bickering threads that filled it up, pple did discuss the game, you went for help to forums to your fellow players (never mind that was your only hope to get any help LOL). Server forum sections these days are dead once the server gets going.

That spring when Dragon server was in beta, I played Korean MMORPG Red Moon (US server) which was my very first online game and while I had fun and good times on it, it was too much arcade like gaming. Then I heard on grapewine in the game about some new online game, also Korean and called mir2. I looked it up and moved to the recently opened Phoenix server September 14th and the rest is history.

I once logged on Arcadia (or was it P69?), might have been around 2015 or thereabouts? Of course nobody was around in Border, didn't expect anybody since the server was already fairly old. Made my way on foot in the early evening dusk to Bichon city through mostly empty countryside with ever present frog croaking on a warm night and the town was also dead, just full of stalls. It was so depressing I logged off and never showed up on the server again. Might have been different if I caught the daylight time and if some pple were around, even AFK.

37 now myself and I always find myself returning for a few months, but as you say, nothing has come close to how Chronicles felt.

I'm aware of a couple of lads working on a project that I randomly came across on discord that are pushing a similar client set with their rendition on an evolution of what Chronicles could've been, which is interesting to see develop and the only thing to really look forward too atm other than the Ashes of Jin project.
Ashes of Jin project seems to have a very similar vibe as to when Chronicles came out in terms of a few lads with their heads screwed on that know what seemingly know what they're doing and some of their ideas seem to push Mir in a slightly new direction which is interesting.

Both projects definitely something to keep an eye on in the coming months. For now, I'll scratch my itch on the crappy Crystal files pop-up servers...

There is no "best server" , there's only "best server for me" , but yea, Chrons and P69 were two of the most successful long-term servers having quite a community who kept them going.
Also nowadays most servers are just a copy paste basic version with a few "new ****" thrown together just to milk money from players.
It's less of a game and more of a vending machine, except the soda's warm, overpriced and comes with a pay-to-win label slapped on the can.

P69, Ragezone and Chronicles felt like the most Mir experience whilst adding around the core game play.

P69 was fun for just boss hunting and the pvp in those easy to get to KR's was just great fun.

Ragezone was just greatly balanced that I actually stopped playing solo and enjoyed a guild for once. PVP was epic and Refining weapons was actually done right. and even in the game. P69 actually was more fun for refining though It's my favourite pass-time in game if you can tell.

Chronicles was a beast on its own because you got the 2.3 stuff at high quality with good balance and user count. Had ALOT of fun on all 3 servers
