This is sad, but it's true, there's alway's some1 that screw a good server, take MrsBarny, or Barny has he's known on this forum, been exploiting cheats day after day, when i finaly cought him what he do?? he pings the server lol... these guy's should be banned from the mir comunity coz they are the ones that make this nice game go flush down the drain... i leave you some pics of him having fun on Mongchon spawning Zumas...

thats a common thing now day's because alot of people making the servers have good freinds within the community which you cant stop. but some people think hes got friends that play his server hes gonna give them kit. n level's. theres nothing you can do when you get people like that

I dont know seems like jonny isnt telling us full story.. all i see is Barny killing zuma's, and jonny accusing them of spawning them.

Also can i ask how do you "exploit a cheat". You can exploit a bug, or you can cheat. Surely you cant exploit a cheat? :S

What im saying is though, that is no actual proof of cheating/exploiting. Is there a log shot of this where it says barny made mobs? How'd we know if it wasnt the GM a couple of hours back making some ZT's to test, and forgetting to some?

What im saying is this screenshot has f all to prove about msrbarny cheating/exploiting. Ok he was killing mobs in a area where they shouldn't spawn, fair do's he deserves a slapped wrist. But as i said and ill say it again, screenie shows F all.

zumas spawn in mongchon => consequence... no cheating
option 2:
GM spawned zumas to test => consequence... no cheating since GM spawned
option 3:
person hacked a GM => consequence... he hacked a GM due to lack of security
option 4:
person hacked server database / security config lacking => consequence... he hacked the server to gain access to GM powers

is there actually a cheat which spawns monsters, without the player being somehow given GM permissions on the server...

without server logs a screenshot shows nothing, not even that he was responsible... and to be honest... why would someone with GM powers spawn monsters, surely they would just give themself experience/items...

I did tell everyone here that Lifcos binarys are not secure If I wanted to I could create multiple hacks including the likes of MirLander and other cheats. Worst of all being a cheat able to configure my own char to have status 10.

to be honest this is the risk we take when makin a server, but theres not many people on here who can code stuff like that... and Doubt barny can.

you say giving your self admin through SQL which 2.6 use's admin.txt

Thats where your wrong. you can add yourself as admin in the DB and then it auto writes it.

There are a number of ways these things can be done. These things happen. Its what happens when you rush into getting a 2.6 server up when you dont know the facts about the files themselves. My opinion anyway.

The problem is that the 2.6 files are miles behind in security. All people see is features and forget the more important factors of stability and security.

And the only reason you can hack the sql db's is that most people using them don't know what they are doing...
