its more about upload connection and RAM than processing power.

you should have 2Gb of RAM on the system, to allow gates to run properly, and a dedi server if you are wanting a lag free server with lots of people

If the machine you're posting that statement about is ONLY hosting a server, then a Pentium 4 2.2Ghz and 512MB RAM will surfice. 2GB is totally pointless, as it will not even go over 768MB usage

it depends what you have running. DM2 automatically uses more and depending on what npc scripts you have (if they are big) will increase it. ours runs at 1.25Gb of PageFile resources at full spawn

Page file is the hard drive paging file (c:\pagefile.sys usually) not physical ram

only thing i would worry about is ntl connection (virgin media now) since they took over, the connection has been pathetic,, frequent loss of connection for a few seconds of a late evening, early morning,, maybe due to maintenance (as they call it not sure),,, a tekkie sent out and modem replaced at our server location and still the same, someone coming again in a couple of days i think to look again.... by the time you get through to help desk the modem has connected back up.

lol 2gb ram for mir.

lol.

lololol.

rofllol.

"ha u guyz i dld pakman from dis warez site da uvva dai" "w00t cool" "ye taiks 60gb ram do so cnt play" "o no"

Nah just kidding mate.

But not really.

Seriously, you could probably run a mir server off a calculator. People assume it's resource intensive because the m2server likes to take 100% of prosessing power, but it doesn't actually need that.

Specs is twice as much as you need to run server and more than enough to cope with the numbers of players frequenting any of the major servers these days. You can host and play a mir 3 server with a 1.5ghz pc and 768mb ram if wanted to, dependent on number of players :)
