There shouldn't even be a mention of these files beig released on this section of the forums. This is for the game not the development of Mir. Yes the server is the future of Mir but the people testing/playing should have more than half of the dedication from the server team, not the people wishing to make money from there own server once the files are released.

asking for server files being released means being compared to someone who wants to make money from it.. nice :) lol

anyways.. the big picture here is:

if server files don't get unbugged
then no great server in the future can arise from it
if no great server can arise
then no mir community can survive

else if server content gets delayed
(since we got one man team which has 2 hands and wasn't born in chernobyl)
then maybe server bugs get resolved

which means a set of server files which are not worthless can be used for making a proper server

this is however my POV.. and looks like i am the only one.. probably because most of you enjoy playing the game instead of making the game

My point was this is the only server I have played in years that doesn't have a game gold or potcash shop. And most servers that have potcash or gamegold usually give huge advantages for the people willin to buy the stuff and some owners even sell the best kits to people.

Is the best server in ages, I think having no cash shop helps, a small shop won't hurt aslong as its not pay to win with items/exp. Just hope this server stay up long term as I see new players everyday

You have to remember this is only the test server, I no you have the competitive lot in game, and everyone competing with each other etc, but once this am2 files are released, there be a **** load of am2 servers about with a population of what say 300 people spread across the servers. That's why I play this for fun, iv played probly 2weeks after release, and am only lv44, I dnt see no point in trying to be the highest or best on here, you dno weather once the bugs are fixed there'll be a wipe etc.

By the Thor's Hammer ^^

The team should take all forum exchange with a big soup spoon of salt and cut pple slack if they complain and carry on. It is discouraging and gets to you if you get negative feedback but also it is natural that those that play take the effort behind the scenes for granted and complain as well, ce la vie, try to see both sides and develop thick skin, that all I can advise :!

The people playing obviously want what's best for them. What they fail to realize is that doing so is only harming the overall quality and speed of the AceM2 server files.

Honestly? you're doing a great job. Stick to what you're doing. The files are infinitely more important than the content and hopefully, one day, the people complaining about content will realize this (unlikely) and will enjoy playing a COMPLETE set of files.

Even if you were to wipe your current server. It wouldn't matter. If you were to release the exact same server, but actually completed instead of on-going. You'd get the same amount if not more users, and you'd have all the time in the world to focus on content to keep THOSE users happy.

These files are the future of Mir, and quite frankly the only promising set of files we've seen so far.

TL;DR most people don't really know what they want, they just want whats good for them. It's selfish, but it's human nature. Stick to the files and keep up the good work.

we had plenty server files around and i don't even know them all but for me, i also feel, these are the only ones it's worth waiting to get them unbugged and stable.

To be fair to Jamie, his server files are probably anouy 40% complete, if that. yes they look good, very good indeed but there is still a lot of work to go into them. Hopefully he will find the time to put into them because I'd like to see a complete set and see what it runs like.

But, i can imagine that been quite some way off.

Jamie's work was awesome no doubt about it... But to get the files in a state (functionally) to compete with 2.3 and Ruby is so much more than a 1 man job... if there was a set of half decent c# files I would probably work on those, simply because Java is my native language and the syntax is very closely related...

jamie's server files are not forgotten.. i just didn't consider them because they are in a very early stage of development.. if you want they were already very complete because all the basic functions where in.. and one thing must be said, he sure is a damn quick programmer.

tbh what can come out from jamie's server files is probably the best we can have but for now looking at complete and working server files, acem2 seems to be the best we have got.

was primal m2 based on something totally different than this? can't remember.. it look promising aswell when it first came out.

Ruby would be great if they would release the updates, but only seeing one server getting them.

Is the problem getting more pple on board to help because of worries they would just steal the files to make a rogue server?

And where did Jamie's c files originate? I only know that c is programming language but that's where it starts and ends LOL

By originate I mean did some company, like in China, maybe Shanda, reprogram mir2 from scratch and the files were never finished or the leaked files weren't finished, or what is the history of them.

Also how are mirs - ruby, ace and this c# different? Is that some of these files allow extending them, or extending relatively easily than others? Like for bringing new features into mir more easily, or at all?

If I was to vote, I'd vote against releasing the files as long as work on them is ongoing and didn't stop, because if released, I doubt that those mir essential features would get added in by somebody (like TM for one), rather they would pile on some un-mir like stuff with high exp rate and bill it as the greatest mir that ever was and the server scene would be totally confusing for all that are not in and following the news minutely day by day.

jamie's server files originate from his work.. as far as i know he has been coding it from scratch in c#

most of mir sources are in delphi.. both are good languages tbh.. can't personally jugde which one is better..

Does mir have so called 'game engine' like big games have that I hear talked about? I suppose mir has one of a kind game engine and perhaps it can't really be separated from the game?

I suppose I am not alone who doesn't know how much is being done behind the scenes and no wonder pple expect too much.

I thought we would get all mir2 eu and usa features with added caves and mobs from mir3, alrady we have horses which when I was playing euro was deemed impossible for mir2, that's one big thing in for sure.
