Trying to set up a server and need some help/advice!!

hi all well as title says i am trying to set up a server useing 2.3 files my os is vista basic with sp2 i have sql 2005 installed and have had some files on my c drive i have restored my mir2(restorethis) in my sql and have put my map in to the m2 server file then i go to run server and i am getting this on my m2server loading stditemdb then start timeer exception : unspecified error and then its going to not responding any one have a solution for this or any advice on what to do

make sure your files are connecting to SQL correctly!

DBserver folder dbsrc.ini
M2Server Setup.ini

[SQL]
SQLType=mssql
SQLHost=>name of PC<\SQLEXPRESS
SQLPort=3306
SQLDatabase=lom2
SQLUsername=sa
SQLPassword=>what ever password you put when installing SQL<

sure more peeps will move to windows 7 in time to come - but alot of peeps use the OS system that came with the computer they brought.
I happen to think Vista is a very good OS even thou i upgraded to W7 Ult
