iv just bought a ps3, but for some reason it wont work on my current pc monitor using hdmi to dvi cables.

so im looking for a new monitor.

needs to have a hdmi port, and dvi port. around 19/20"

and no more than £250.

can anyone recommend a high quality one that will last me? the one i have now has lasted for 5+ years and still goes for £500 on the market, so i dont want to compromise in quality and looks.

Why bother with a monitor, instead go straight for an LCD TV. They are exactly the same as a monitor, have the same DPI on 1080 and refresh is the same as a monitor. You can pick up a decent LCD for 250 - 300 around 28"/32" and that way you have a TV as well.

you cant take the base off those can you tho? i want to eventually have it wall mounted. if i remember those samsungs have a built in wall mount (when u tilt the base) so you cldnt use a cantilliva stand.

edit:

which is better? that one, or the samsung 656? yours has a higher contrast ratio, but the 656 tv is more.

is the t240 full hd?

The base slots into the back of the monitor. Yeah it seems to tilt backwards.

The T240 i have says Full HD (1080P) Supported. I don't know which is better.

The only thing i would say is that the T240 doesn't come with a remote control. Maybe the 656 TV has speakers built into it where as the monitor doesn't. Making up for the extra in price?

ah it doesnt have speakers?

do you run a console from it? its fine for my pc, but i want to run my ps3 from it aswell.

i might be able to wire up an optical from my ps3 to pc to speakers, but cant guarantee it.

edit:

do you have the t240, or the t240hd? the hd one comes with a remote and speakers built in according to a review im just looking at. obviously its about £100 more than the t240.

Nah i just run my PC from it. I have the T240 but it is HD.

I don't have PS3 in the house or i'd try it for you.

No it doesn't have speakers but what happens is.

You plug an HDMI into the back of the monitor then the monitor has a regular sound jack from it so you can get the music from the HDMI cable into some speakers.

Very Nice.

I've hooked my PC up to my 32inch a couple of times but felt it was just that bit too big for a monitor. So then i went and got a 24inch and i'm using my 17inch at the side of it and its fantastic.

Although if your happy with it then... :ppunk:

Yeah with the resolution how I have it it's great...

This is its maximum lol.

What resolution is that?

I run at 1920 x 1200 on my 24.

Nice choice on the T240hd =) You should enjoy if it's anything like the t240.

-Added Screenshot of my screens. I wish my second screen was the same resolution as my first =(
