Not a fan of this shield update now that everybody is high level, atleast make it a weaker nerf, 25-40-50-60?

Literally makes no sense at all. If something is broken it needs to be fixed right... Continuous game development is important to maintain balance. If it has been decided that shield is too strong it should be adjusted, if it is too weak it should be buffed, irrespective of gains or losses to individual players - think about the balance integrity on a greater scale. It looks like Jamie is actually updating this server like an actual developer. No sir, i'm not. I'm under the assumption people have had a stronger shield to carry them through to 40, and now the rest have to struggle. How's that fair?

Hi, fair comment.
I did say that I think it's great to see regular updates as it shows he is on the ball & getting things fixed quickly. It will be interesting to see how he deals with things later down the line when players have reached end game and there is more demand, especially when it appears to be only himself dedicated to the server (i could be wrong here).
In terms of the sunpot example, it was exactly that, an example. Chrons changed their sunpots to how they originally worked (if i remember correctly) but what I was trying to get at was point 3 - having a vision of where it's going.
Now I'm not saying that he doesn't have a vision and I appreciate things evolve and change over time but knowing from the outset on some key features/game play on how you want them to work and knowing the reasons why (as well as being able to explain them to the player base) is a positive sign that you have a longer term view on where things are heading.
As a user of LOMCN and coming across a number of Update threads not even a week after release, it's easy to get the impression or the idea that the server might have been rushed. (Again, not saying it has). I'd just expect to see regular updates at least after a month of running live.. but then again, maybe the players have been steam rolling it thus finding things a lot quicker than anticipated.
This is the first server where I've ever seen the Owner/Admin stalking players all over the server, watching, taking notes and implementing changes all the time. More people, more skills levels, more varied line of activities.
What hes doing is truly fantastic.
Not saying it isn't fantastic but it is basically a test server.
Someone has already moaned above about something being nerfd and therefore certains players potentially gaining an advantage over others. I know it's 'Mir' and it's also free but if you're going to release something then make sure it's in a state where you aren't making so many changes/updates.
If a large player base is needed for testing purposes then that's fine, wipe the server after or do it in a way where there are events or whatever to make it more of a playground - then fix and release ready to go.
Just my thoughts on it but then again, I work in the software world where if you make a release it's expected to be in a completed state. Perhaps I'm being a bit 'harsh' or picky.. it's only Mir after all![]()

Agreed, people have had an advantage before certain nerfs
I understand what you are saying and I can appreciate the point you are making, but I think that the way game development is going the continuous introduction of nerfs and buffs keeps the game healthy and interesting.
I personally find it refreshing that it isn't the case that "it is what it is so it's going to be that way always". I don't necessarily agree that this is a test server, I can understand why you say that, but ultimately I think that there will always be updates and tweaks continuously to maintain balance and challenge in game.
I hate to keep going back to it as an example but it's what I am most familiar with, League of Legends (I know its a MOBA not an MMO) have updates similar to the magic shield update frequently and it keeps the game very healthy and arguably well balanced. Admittedly you aren't stuck on one class on that game but I can appreciate the approach Jamie is taking.

But if there is an advantage that is unfair or unwarranted, it is only correct that it is amended, no?
Or are you saying that if I find that once I have level 3 FlameSword and it can 1 shot a WT because it is so strong, that because I have had this advantage every warrior should be given the opportunity to get level 3 FlameSword and 1 shot a WT before the spell is amended?
Did you see through @observermode? :PThis is the first server where I've ever seen the Owner/Admin stalking players all over the server, watching, taking notes and implementing changes all the time. More people, more skills levels, more varied line of activities.
