This screenshot explains it all really. Basically, theres a program (updater.exe) running in the background on my computer, i would like to remove it from my PC but i cant seem to.
download hijackthis first
reboot in safe mode
run hijackthis and do a system scan only
then locate those updater entries (should be an O4 type) and check them and click fix checked
don't check everything!
delete the files as well...
reboot
P.S. I THINK the updater has something to do with a program called "pornbot" or something. I downloaded this TorrentToolbar for my browser, to help me search for torrents, and when i installed it, the installer also installed this pornbot program. I am not definatly sure though. Also, does anyone know any good programs which can track "hidden" installers?
Well, pornbot appears to be a peice of software, shareware infact. It was a trial thing that installed on my system, and after removing it, its left behind this crappy updater
Hmmm, another problem, i cant start my system up in safe mode =/ i select safe mode, and when its loading DRIVERS/agp440.sys, it just hangs and the hard drive light stays on solid (no flickiering or nothing) until i turn my PC off :S
Can i have that pornbot plz, sounds like something i need xD.
Also to answer your question if there is something to track things that secretly try to install themselves on your system - Kasperskys realtime protection, or something along those lines.
Argh ok, thanks m8. Well im using Kaspserky Internet Security (just installed it)
@Kaori
I used that "hijackthis" program, and it found the updater.exe (O4 Type). I select them both, and click "fix checked". However, once i closed hijackthis, that updater just returned. I scanned again and it found the updater again I cannot find the files or see them, so i cannot physically remove them myself =/
