Well, I was just thinking about creating a server, but not the traditional style of MMORPG mir. I was thinking about creating a server based on like a labyrinth - the one dungeon with many possible places to explore and strange ways to get around, with no end in sight ect. I'm still brainstorming and coming up with ideas.

If you can kind of imagine what I mean by my brief explanation, then tell me what you think. I am only just imagining all this as I'm typing so it may not work at all and just be stupid idea lol, but I just wanted to see what people think.

so theres no KRs, just boss's doted around in certian rooms ... for example if u went ZT kr, ZT would be there but then u could then go onto a next floor? lol

yea kinda, with rest rooms where you can buy items. Kind of in a casino style but so much more in depth..... Would take alot of thinking to get right and so that people would want to play.

It'd need to be flipping huge... Level restrictions would definitely be needed, otherwise people will cruise throught it withing seconds.

Basically though, its BDD 100x bigger, with shops on route to the "centre".

Yea pretty much, I agree on the level restrictions or a means of control. I'm just dusting off all my old mir stuff atm, might have a go at it!

Edit: I think I'm basicly trying to make a mir version of Diablo lol....

How about a simple little Home zone, with as forest surrounding it, and then something like St at top of map. Then obviously that would be the labyrinth but i think you'd need alot more. Possibly make a smaller mir world? But make the main focus the labyrinth. Include like a farm, with side quests, fishing (when sombody releases files with it).

Make it like Zelda... 3 begiiner labs. Which then once completed lead to more?

Then make it so to open certain doors, you need to complete certain task, flick certain switches (npcs). Collect certain things.. and you can unlock Rare items upon completion??

Yea I like the idea of that, be a good time to get spells and such sorted out.

Then make it so to open certain doors, you need to complete certain task, flick certain switches (npcs). Collect certain things.. and you can unlock Rare items upon completion??

A good puzzle to include, I'll make sure I keep a note of that.

like for example u have MW.. leads to ZT.. ZT kr then leads to say.. 5 floors of something.. then u got a KR... then another 5 floors.. then say the end of BDD (DD) then u go thro DD thro to castle GI.

something like that? with the KR in the middle of ZT+ BDD bein some sorta harder boss as hes so far inside?

I Agree, a main town is needed. Which is why i said the zelda theme.

1 Big main map (Hyrule) Then small maps with small towns leading to temples.

I know what you mean but I've got an idea in mind that will keep everyone able to meet with eachother, like I said its going to need alot of thought to make it work.

perhaps there is like a safe zone every so often with different npc's in each one. Could incorporate a town portal (tt) into it so you return to the nearest one. Theres an idea for you too ben. Town portals ;p allowing others to go through where u want.

If you were going all out on this server then it would be cool so that on your journey the map that your on gradually increases in mob levels / items and texture .. so you could have a forest that that leads to a cave , then comes out the other end of the cave to a desert and so on

Also when you visit towns on the way through the maps you can have a save point NPC that sets a flag...you could have them view on SET flags that you have.. But you'd need to code a new menu ingame for the portal's you have required..so that you can go back a forth through towns ..Like Diablo

Thats what I was aiming to do if I manage to get it going ok, its easy enough to do the flags as you say. I'm planning on having a rather tight gold system making tele's cost enough to put someone off using it.

I hate you, I really want to play D2 now, think I'll have to install it and play again. >_<

Does sound like a potentially great idea, if you haven't played D2 recently I strongly suggest going through it again, should be good to give you some more ideas about what you want to do, though it sounds like it's developing well so far - Best of luck with it. :D

lol D2 is an excellent time passer, Used to love playing it lol..

i guess you wouldnt need portal menu as you could just do what D2 done and have the maps show to the flags that you have set

So if you on the 5th town you'l have 5 towns to teleport to .. Would have to do a cave one aswell that you get on completion of quest ...
