I'd sacrifice HDR (which, by the way... is "wow" the first time you see it, then after you frankly couldn't give two ****s what glows and what doesn't) for FPS any day of the week.

I switch off my HDR on the new css maps to have AA, no biggie, more FPS without being blinded by the sun’s reflection. I’ll drink to that.

Don’t be put off by it Stone, it's really not that bigger deal.

X1800XT 256 > 7800GT performance wise ANYDAY. That alone makes it the better buy.

Also, CSS DOESN'T do true HDR. Valve's idea of HDR is good, but it's not the industry standard, it's just their own little fix.

:)

Isn't the x1900XTX better than the one you reccomended? and just a tad bit more expensive?

The X1900XT is about a hundred more pounds.

You wouldn't need the adaptor seeing as the card has both a DVI and a VGA port :P

Says Dual DVI which leads me to believe that both ports are DVI, especially seeing as i cant see the ports on the picture.

I have/have had almost every game on the market in the last year or so. Don't talk to me about in-game, I do in-game ;) you're just the backup man, the one who reads the **** but never takes part.

And yes, the X1800XT clocks are generally better. But it's ATI, wake up.

Clocks? The chipset purely beats the 7800GT, no questions asked. And what's your beef with ATI? The X1900XTX > the 7900GTX in the majority of games AND has the highest benchmark scores atm.

If you try to incite flaming again you will get a 3 day temporary ban.

As for your comments... I've beaten every major game that's came out in the last several years for fps, most rts's, and some rpg's. I also held/hold several high level and well eqipped characters in most MMORPG's.

Just because I put you in your place doesn't mean you need to get snobby.

Oh, btw, I've used every major card out there except for the 7900GT, have you? I talk the talk and walk the walk :)

And yes, I've used most of the Nvidia GPUs (I LAN, and I have friends). I don't use much ATI, last one I used was ****e, so I didn't go back there... got a few guys at the private LAN functions who insist on using them, we tend to get the lesser end of the problems though.

And read the rules Urban, there is nothing wrong with "provoking flaming" (which is simply having an argument). I suggest, if you have an issue with my behaviour that you talk to admin. It's really not my problem if you can't have a debate without turning it into a flame, and if I’m honest, you're the only one who ever does. You, as a moderator, need to control your behaviour. You can't just ban someone because you have a personality clash, that's not how the civil world works.

For the record, I'm always snobby. That's a privilege that British citizens have. UL.

And I've used from both companies. In fact, before I upgraded, my last card was a 7800 GTX. I am only a fanboy to performance, I switch companies at will to who has the best. ATI has the best this round.

I don't need to read the rules, but thanks for recommending.

I get a mighty kick out of winding Urban up until he flames me though

Like I said, do it again and you'll get a three day temporary ban.

I'm also telling you NOT to discuss the issue in this thread or any thread anymore. If you have a problem then PM, don't go offtopic here.

Could do with a break from this forum, got no topics to watch now. Will save me from looking at work, and give me a chance to pay more attention to other communities.

I summed up the pros and cons, and would be greatful if any dense t.wat would ban me from this place.

You're a c.u.n.t.

Well, I do guess that saves you the humiliation of the benchmark wars.

Although, that doesn't save you the humiliation of not responding to any of my comments in this thread, except for your friends have trouble with ATI... ouch, lots of logic there, it must be ATI's fault...
